In other news:
I contacted the store that sold me my steelseries siberia v2 because the mic broke and they would provide me with the means to send it to them, all free of charge. This would take me 4-8 weeks, so in my experience with these things that always translates to 8 weeks.
Now i also contacted steelseries support directly and they would send it back to me within 10 workdays, only i would ahve to pay for the shipping.
Easy choice. Cost me 14 euros but it saves me about 5 weeks of being micless

Fuck yeah Siberias.
My state was founded by Batman. Your opinion is invalid.
Got my new desk today, space enough for 3 monitors. Will post pics tomorrow
for a fatty you're a serious intellectual lightweight.
awsumtown
My secondary monitor died, so now I'm just having to swap between windows to change my music like a goddamn savage.
First world problems.

Should I buy this, including posting comes to £20, so I can set up a 'server/media pc' with E5200, Gigabyte GA-G31M-S2L, 2GB DDR2 1066, no graphics card, might have to get a PSU, too.
E: Actually I'd probably put that on my main PC and put the one I'm using atm (F7P Rev1) on this proposed PC
but if I'm doing that I should probably get a really nice cooler..
hmm..

After doing a quick and dirty self non-blind ABX test, I've found that I couldn't really tell the difference between a flac and ogg vorbis file encoded at 3.0 (~112 kbps), with aotuv patch settings thingy whatever. I don't know if that speaks volumes about the format or my amazing audio deciphering. Audiophiles, please rage at me.
fwiw, one time I was listening to a song with cheap ear buds on my PSP and could tell that a 189kbps mp3 file had some artifacts.

So you had a flac file encoded at ~112 kbps and couldn't tell the difference between it and an ogg vorbis file encoded at ~112 kbps?mtb0minime wrote:

Amazing.
I know right!
Next try an mp3 file encoded at ~112 kbps and report your results asap!
how large are said files X_X
everything i write is a ramble and should not be taken seriously.... seriously. ♥
Used a rock song with a lot of stuff going on. Cymbals are the easiest thing to pick up on.
flac was 31.65 MB
ogg was 3.82 MB
mp3 was 7.27 MB
Not a single fuck was given except for that I can put a lot more music on my phone now and it still sounds just as good to me (was previously using mp3 at V2)

Did the song go for about 7 minutes?
It was a 4~5 minute song, but I only listened to 5 seconds of it I encoded it to various levels of ogg vorbis and was like yep, yep, yep, nope, done.
OGG is more transparent than MP3, but you should still be able to hear a difference at that low of a bitrate between FLAC and OGG. Though if youre listening on skullcandies, you probably wouldnt notice if it was 32kbps
