I love wake island... but I agree, it can be the worst game of your BF2 career
when you get in there with a bunch of retards..
Some of the biggest idiots play this map... taking the jeeps off to the airstrip as the
game begins just for a 60 yard ride to their precious jet (You gotta love those jet kiddies,
all of the points, none of the skill..)... anyhow, this leaves the rest of your team standing
there looking for a ride..
Then of course is the chopper cappers (yeah this applies to every map, I know..) but,
it seems with the layout of wake, 2 sides of the island.. you take 2 oe 3 bases on one
side, theres some little tard in a chopper capping one on the other side.. whee what skill.
Playing a 2 differant servers recently, I got kicked for artying the carrier as commander..
Having played half te game without a commander, I decided to hop into the role and get
some action going.. near the end with the enemy team with 3 tickets remaining, we had
finally pushed them all off the island and onto the carrier.. I placed an arty there (NOT TO
SIMPLY SPAM A BUNCH OF PEOPLE, BUT TO TAKE OUT THEIR JET AND CHOPPER TO KEEP
THEM THERE, A FAIR TACTIC IN ANY SENSE...) got kicked out by a clannie who had admin
privs because he was on the carrier.. and I guess who is someone who doesnt like to lose..
WAY TO GO 'OPS' clan... biggest bunch of noobs ever to form a clan in battlefield history..
but all in all, I like the map the most.. bases are spread out, simple layout.. sure beats the
skilless spam of karkand and sharqi any day.. play one of those if you want a lot of points..
(and a lot of deaths and waiting to respawn time.. boring..)
every map can be noob city.. I think wake is still the funnest map to play though..

I've been trying to rack up more hours on Wake these days because I found a server I like. Sure, there are bad apples, but it's still enjoyable and people say stuff that cracks me up. I think the last memorable thing I saw was, "Will you people stop moving around while I'm trying to shoot you?".
My favorite Wake experience was yesterday when I was watching my PulP Fiction DVD. When Christopher Walken comes in to tell Butch the story of the Golden Watch, he says his grandfather was killed by the Japs in the battle of Wake Island. I laughed because BF2 popped into my head and so that was it for the movie.....
Wake island is a great map, Its better if u get a server where the admins dont allow attacking the carrier with vechicles or arty. Keeps it far, and the Jets can still rack up the kills, but now they need some skill. And for sniping on wake, that is the greatest, I headshot someone that was on the hill by the AA at north base and i was at the airfield. That was my best sniper kill ever.
My last encounter on Wake was like this.
I join a game in progress and get put on PLA team. I spawn at the airbase in hopes of getting the armor but it wasn't there. I checked the tac map and didn't see any friendly armor so i waited. As im standing there the J-10 spawns and a guy hops in like normal. He gets goin and here comes a teammate in a jeep out of left field driving full speed and making a B line for the runway. About half way down the runway the guy in the jeep Tbones the J-10 and the pilot gets the Tk. They respawn at head for the runway where the origional pilot is Tk'ed AGAIN by the jeep driver, he hops in and takes off.
At that moment i vowed never to play Wake again.

I like playing Wake and enjoy flying... I personally think if you have a great Jet pilot (along with a good AH team) the US will not be able to take any flags..
I also know that the J-10 is way overpowered compared to the F-35B.. If I'm in the J-10 and have a F-35 on my tail.. I'll loose em every time! If I'm in the F-35B, the J-10 will tear me up every time. The flares are basically fireworks put in by EA for entertainment purposes only. If I get behind a J-10 in the F-35 I won't arm the missles and will work towards taking them out with my guns. They line up for a nice sweep of things and blaaaaaaaaa.... with my guns.

Wake was great before the patch, The F35 vs. J10 was challenging back then too, but nevertheless fun. Not to mention it actually took skill to down a jet back then.
i think AA is awful vs jets. If you have a good pilot AA is not shooting him down. They need to do somethign about that. The jets are to cheesey
Hmmm.. I love Wake, especially if you are USMC, it is a real challenge, kinda like Iron Gator... but not as bad. lol
