Otherwise you would know that it's all perfectly possible, because if you change past events during a time travel, you create a new time line.
And to iron everything out, you need to go back to 1955 to the Enchantment Under The Sea and play Chuck Berry songs. Again.

Also, Philip J. Fry did it as well, even without new time lines.

My thoughts on time travel...

I disregard the possibility of alternate time lines or parrallel universes etc.

If you go back in time, you follow a destiny whether you like it or not, because, well, we already have the result, and another variable, the present.

so,

if z is the result

y is the variable

then by definition, x must be a constant, as only z and y are given.

x + y = z

y is know, z is known... therefore x is also known.
