I lost my grandad on my dad's side when I was what.. about 11? 12? Balled my fucking eyes out. Then I lost my gran on my mum's side about 2 years ago and didn't even cry at the funeral, cause I was a bit more mature. For my grandad I was just following everyone else really. Then at my brothers funeral I had to force myself to cry in fear of looking insensitive ;_;

Now I've matured and shit I don't see what the big thing is about death. A lot of people go (in my eyes) way over the top and mourn for months, me, I was down the pub having a laugh with my friends couple days after John died. Death doesn't phase me anymore. Don't know why. Sure, it sucks I'll never see him again, but it's not emotionally scared me or upset me in any real way.

Don't know my grandad on my mum's side, and my gran on my dad's side is still going strong, 80 this year. Indestructible, that woman. So looks like I'm clear of funerals for a good bit anyway.
I don't think you can say death doesn't phase you anymore. Come on man, I've been to 4 funerals and the last 2 I didn't cry at all. However when one of my parents die (or my dog) I have no doubt I'll be in a shit state for weeks/months.
I don't know man. I'm not nearly as close to my parents as I was to John. For the last year before he died he was pretty much the only person I hung out with daily. We'd used to go to McDonald's almost every day for a coffee, it's a little thing, but it was a routine. Whenever I'd need to discuss something with anyone I'd skip the close friends, skip the parents, skip Cammy and go to John. I'm not saying I'm not gonna give a shit if my dad drops dead tonight, sure I will, but I'm not gonna be up all night crying or not able to go out with friends and enjoy myself, I don't think that helps. Something bad happens to you, why would you want to sit inside and mourn and be even sadder, when you could go out with your friends, get drunk and cheer yourself up about it?

finray you will be bereft when your parents die. sorry to sound harsh but quit with the jaded and dead-eyed "death is nothing to me" spiel. we're human beings. when a parent dies you'll feel lost. i know a girl that lost both her parents before 19 and, trust me, even with a lot of deaths of people our age before that, she was pretty fucking devastated. none of this sour-faced, tight-lipped, french movie "death is a part of life" crap. i guess your way of dealing with death right now is some sort of psychological evasion/denial type gig - and that's fine - but trust me, you'll cry again in your life at the loss of a loved one. sorry.

Well it's not really an option ot just be happy with friends and get drunk. I think if I went out the night my mum died I'd either spend all night crying and ruin everyone elses night or end up jumping off some 2 metre high building and hurting my leg. Then again it doesn't take much to put me on that downhill slope to the dark abyss.

also alcohol is a severe depressant so i don't understand the "fuck death lets get drunk" thing. all you're doing is burying serious grief under layers of analgesia and dead brain cells, when it will resurface in 10 years time and kick you in the ass. you have to confront death and deal with mourning and grief and loss and all of these negative things in a constructive, positive way. you have to. like literally, psychologically. people that ignore death and go get drunk or fucked on drugs are the people you see quietly shuffling into AA meetings as 45 year old washouts, questioning where it all went wrong. it's because you buried a timebomb, dumbie.

fyi sunglasses:

done. gnight.
I personally like the look of wayfarers, but as sunglasses (especially ones with darker glasses that the one's you posted) they have just been ruined for me. I guess its the same as with aviators. Cool old school sunglasses that get revived by douchebags and 14-year-old girls, ruining them for everybody else.

I a lot of cases you can just ignore the fact that a certain group of people also wear that particular item and that its known for it, but its quite a risk.
Its no problem when you manage to pull it off by making it you own.
are you going to let everyone else dictate what you want to wear for all of your life? aren't you one of the people that throws around the term 'hipster' as an insult? you seem more sheeplike in your concern about what's cool and who's wearing what that you're like a quasi-hipster yourself. who cares? wayfarers will always be fashionable. i don't care if 14 year olds know it too. good for them.

i have these, they have gradient lenses. best of both worlds. incredibly clear vision.

As i said: It all depends on the person and what look good on them.
Aviators have a huge risk of making you like a douche, but that doesnt go for eveyone that wears aviators (although with aviators, its very likely that you do, in fact, look like a douche)
Same goes for most sunglasses (and loads of other things). They have a certain reputation to them and some people will have that stamped on them as soon as they wear it.

I've seen a pic of you with those glasses and you dont look like a tool wearing them.
But i know that when i wear wayfarers, i look incredibly douchy.
It all depends on the person wearing them.

So no, you shouldn't let everyone else dictate what you wear, but nobody's capable of pulling off every item of clothing/accessory.
