Well, the little "pops" they make don't exactly make you want to keep your head down in most PC games.

I agree though that computer game gun sounds aren't "Scary" and "Menacing" as I put it, but I'm trying to find the correct word to express my thoughts here. Do you sort of understand what I'm trying to say? All those ArmA videos have the guns sort of sound more powerful, or smth, I donno, I just enjoy those sounds more than the current ones which sound like my airsoft rifles.
And above your tomb, the stars will belong to us.

maybe because the sound of a real gun shot is incredibly loud to the point that it's shaped by your environment, giving it a lot of depth and scale, whereas in a videogame it's a single soundbyte that's usually left as-is.

I know what you're saying. Listen to the AK-101, G36E, RPK, SAW etc on BF2 compared to most guns in BC2 or BF3. BF2 guns sound more bad ass

The M14 in COD4 is a good example of a good sounding weapon.

Sound in BF3 is literally decades ahead of what we have nowadays. Certainly one of the highlights of the game itself. As Lucien said, sounds should differentiate and conform to environments (outside, inside a hallway) and that's exactly what happens in BF3 - they are dynamically recalculated. BC2 sound was nice, but as stated by DICE, FB2.0 is a completely new engine almost in itself which probably includes the sound engine. Not sure if I said before, but when I was playing alpha it was the first time that I was actually scared for my players life, and didn't want to pop out and start shooting downrange or run out into the open. The sound of the rounds going over your head sound exactly like the rebel video footage coming out of Libya/Syria, only in 'life like' quality. Explosions are also realistically modeled, they maintain the speed of sound and take time for the sound to reach you if far enough away. The powerful sounds of such explosions also reverberate against the background of the area (ie. first explosion sound, followed by secondary reverberation, third if powerful enough, etc.). Just can't wait for the sound of helicopters and jets going overhead, and tanks rolling by as I'm running through the desert to the next cap

problem with manually guided missiles is that they force you to stay still while firing, allowing you to get raped by infy

if they made them uberfast dumbfire like in DCON... people would have no warning before being killed
Slow down jets, remove A2A. An replace stingers with Flak.

Yeah that's what I'm talking about. I want more of that in my games.

The M14 in COD4 is a good example of a good sounding weapon.
It sounded like shit, like most of the weapons from CoD4.

With the exception of the M60, which in most games it sounds beast.

BC2 has far superior environment, weapon, and vehicle sounds to any other game I have played. I expect BF3 to take those sounds and make them gold plated.

There is a 120 player server that alternates between running FH2 and PR, the bigger maps with that many players is amazing!

Pr with 120 players is absolute chaos and laggggggggg...but atill, its super fun.
The audio in pr is pretty amazing.

Its a shame not many players play fh2, most of the time it has three populated servers. One of them is always full, the other two are like half populated.

Got a small job at one place, will be getting 144 dollars a week. Gonna take FOR EVER to get the money to buy a new PC. I'm selling stuff though so hopefully that will speed things up a little.

Actually pretty good, the only things I really want to see though are better means of communicating.

Movement is slicker than BF2 or BC.
