Is there a way to simplify the registration process while limiting spammers as well
_______________________________________________________________________________________________
so do like mosts sites do and ask a question that only a human can answer
yeah the registration process is absolute crap, nobody wants to wait around to get approved.
And above your tomb, the stars will belong to us.
you know what, i really fancy joining a gaming community for a 7 year old game today!
oh wow, here is just the thing!
my enthusiasm is so great for this prospect that i don't mind a week-long interrogation and approval process at all!

bf3 could get this forum more members.
i think you're vastly out of contact with the fps gaming majority nowadays... the way the community behaves... the era of the separate online stats-system and the era of the forum community is kind of dying. it was a pre social-network thing, really, even a pre-IM thing... the discussion forum, the enthusiast's board. bf3 will have a lot of players/sales, sure, but the majority of them will be perfectly content using the official EA website/stats channels and discussing/playing it with their own little friend groups (or origin shit, whatever that will do). how many people thesedays do you think buy a game and then go to the internet to join a forum community to discuss said game? it has been on the decline for years, imo, which is why being all draconian and super-pious about moderating/adminstrating this forum just seems like even more out-of-touch megalomania.

Yeah, you make a good point.
Most games these days also implement a stat system (bf battlelog, bungie.net and cod elite), have their own discussion forum made by the developer and they often have their own wiki.
Any FPS stats/forum site has become pretty much obsolete

I agree with all your points. I'm not sure if it is the intention to make bf2s the sickest gaming site on the interbutz. This is nowhere near the only site most of us frequent I would have to imagine.
well then why make it the least fucking enjoyable? the ONLY attraction bf2s has had for the last - what? - 3/4 years is the fact that everyone here knows one another and it's a good place to come and shoot the breeze with after school/college/work/real-life with people that you know. don't have any delusions about it: this place is not going to abound with new-found bf3 fertility to become a powerhouse for bf3's community... it won't happen. bf2s is a community discussion forum now and you're punishing and banning members of the community for this mythical (and absent) 'influx' of 'new members' that are apparently just surging at the gates to get in (they're not).

The only reason i joined was because of the small tight community.
Problem with that of course is that i didnt quite get a warm welcome. Because there arent any new member people get paranoid, thinking that any new member is an old troll.
And i dont blame them, I havent been on this forum too long and even i would be suspicious if a new member would join.

ffs just be glad we've still given you discussions and an actual semi-active community to fucking moderate for these last 4 years. if it wasn't for the core group of ~25-50 members that have kept this place with fresh posts and traffic, no matter what, you wouldn't even have a high and mighty chair to still fucking sit in. you're destroying and driving away the decent community (which has settled into a comfortable form and mode of operation for YEARS) with this fabled, utterly delusional hope that you'll soon have 1,000's of new underlings to attract praise and respect from. you won't. get over it.

and hardly anyone has reacted well to this change, so it's hardly just the well-known 'bratpack' being little bitches. with this proposal you want to change the behaviour of your ENTIRE forum community for the benefit of... who, exactly? the 20 guests that float around?

I think a few of you guys have demonstrated exactly why Chuy wants to change things around here.
This will certainly have a big impact (for the better) on the forum if it is enforced.
Glad this is finally being addressed.

are
you
seriously
you've emerged in the last week as some random-hero sycophant trying to siphon off some precum from the erect penis of our power-hungry admins. what are you hoping to get from it? some acknowledgement and respect from the 'staff' here? the 'staff' privilege means nothing in this community now because it has become so flattened and equal; there is no staff/member divide anymore, we all play, converse, teamspeak, banter and squabble together. and that's actually a good, healthy way to operate when you're in the waning late-phases of forum life. who wants an authoritarian, strictly-business admin team when 99% of forum activity is basically year-old friends shooting the breeze with one another? i don't need to be AWM'd by orangehound for calling toiletsex, a fellow brit (i.e. shared slangs and casual colloquialisms) that i have known and spoken to for 3 years, that he is "gay", that most ineffective and wholly insignificant faux-pejorative. but i was. why? it's absurd, frankly. if you're hoping to get into some good books with a promise of attaining a position of respect or power yourself in the future... all i can say is hold your horses and stop taking yourself so damn seriously, because the future for bf3's community is even pettier and even more immature EA-ran forums full of 12 year old pissants and 4channers. enjoy your destiny, posting padawan!

If you guys really want to moderate, let everyone in with a captcha, THEN decide if they are gay or cool.
Sounds like a lot of others share this view.

I think all the enjoyment came about naturally, cdogm, bfroe/indian scout, supah, ATG, etc. Everything in recent times has been half-hearted emulation mixed with recycled internet trolling. Honestly the past 8 months has been 1/8 as much fun, even without a hot topic.Uzique wrote:
