I'm kinda used to paying inflated prices here tbh. Not that I'm happy about it, but I learned to accept it some time ago.

If I wanted to wait I was actually looking at buying from overseas, but this way I can have a play with them for about a week before I go on my holiday to the US

Can the microphone cable from my gaming headset (Steelseries 5H V2) be extended (and work) by a 3.5mm audio cable or do I need some other special type of cable for that?

You would just need to get an adapter and another cable.

I turned my PC on yesterday and the GPU fan started spinning at full speed and the screen didn't turn on

I restarted it and it worked

The same thing happened today

This. But the HD6870 isn't far behind the GTX560Ti either.

I know flac supports 1-8 channels. How do I check a flac file to know how many channels it has?

Buy more speakers until sound stops coming out.

Yeah. I looked some further and found a couple posts on some forums that state the best settings are apparently 2 channels for flac music.

Now I'm having problems with foobar2000 and the ASIO plugin. It basically crashes when I try to add a device (ie. my sound card) for my output settings. I've looked online for about an hour but not answers

Any ideas?

Unless you're playing some fancy-ass surround sound wankery, music should be played at 2.1/2.0, yeah.

Man, I remember when the 9700 came out. Blew all of the GeForce 4 and most of the 5s out of the water. I had to settle for a Ti4200, the first component I'd ever put in a computer, and the power budget was so tight that I literally had to disconnect my floppy drive to get the computer to boot.

Good times. 8)

Sure its not inside the PC itself?

I get various amounts of CPU noise on various earphone sockets.

Turns out X-Fis don't work well with AC'97.

Also turns out my case is still AC'97.

Buying a new case next week.

As opposed to HD Audio. The front audio connector. I want a new case anyway so it's an excuse to get one versus waiting till I upgrade at the end of the year.
