Well they got bought out... Apparently they're now g4s.  I know one of the founders of Wackenhut, but i don't know now.
I stood in line for four hours. They better give me a Wal-Mart gift card, or something.  - Rodney Booker, Job Fair attendee.

its called G4S here.
Dont know what its like in the states, but its pretty boring work here. Most end up driving around money from bank/atm to bank. Those things never get robbed and you dont have any form of authority. Seems boring.

For some reason I feel like I remember never using commas in Spanish.

punctuation is just a formal-grammatical tool for extending meaning and intention in written language. that, of course, depends upon the natural fluencies and idiosyncracies of each language being used. the fast, long-claused spanish and italian languages will have substantially less punctuation - especially commas to separate dependent clauses and subordinates - because, quite simply, they pause less in spoken, verbal communication. the same thing happens with metre and scansion in each respective tongue's poetry-- hence in english we get the metred anglo-saxon rhythms of the iambic pentameter (shakespeare's measured verse), whereas in the medi-latin countries you get longer, more flowing lines in the style of the dactylic hexameter (dante's divine comedy).

Grats on the jobs/interviews guys.

I've also got an internship for 3 months, working full time (37.5 hours pr week). The pay is good and that, but I kind of wish I left a bit more time open for relaxing.

Funnily enough, the job description is very similar to yours, Uzique. Company is in the process of doing a brand-name redesign/make-over thing, and I'm hired to write/translate/proof-read/edit articles/web-content/newsletters for the lead-up to the launch.

i'll only be doing about 25 hours per week as i have a huge academic reading list to get through, a master's thesis to propose and research, and a girlfriend to commute 150 miles to-and-fro to see. juggling quite a bit but just glad to have something to actually DO this summer... feel way too old and restless to take another schoolboy summer holiday.

we have G4S in Taiwan as well... they're more like mall cops and protect cash etc, not exactly the same shit as black water as a DoD contractor.

I agree though, it's nice to be doing something (and for once actually making a decent amount of money for myself).

You seem to complain about Italy a lot.

Considered moving? I'll take that house in Rome off your hands, if you want.

It's cause I'm so high I went to the optometrist since I was eligible for new glasses. It's been a good 3-4 hours, so they're slowly returning to normal as I sit in the darkened room with my monitor brightness lowered.
