This might be strange, but...

charity isn't charity unless there's no strings attached.

As far as the old "I took a drug test to get a job" argument.  This isn't a job.  It's accepting a handout.

With that said, I'd like all welfare recipents drug tested.  But if it doesn't happen, that's okay with me.

But in response to your question, no one apart from Dilbert (from what I've seen anyway) has argued against testing of welfare recipients, we've just discussed the particulars of doing so, and then the discussion moved on from there.

random drug and alcohol tests are just fine thank you.  i mean if i have to work and support them and am subject to that, then so should they.  how can you argue that?

I work in Engineering and we don't have drug tests. I think it's a lot rarer here though.
