The snipers in bad company all had ghillie suits. That's really the norm.

Why do snipers always look the same in games? Slightly crouched and ninja looking? What happened to the ghillie suits? To me, these characters have a bit of bad company feel to them, too much 'badass i'm so cool' vibe.

once again you really need to accept the fact this game is going to be more like bc3 than the new bf2Pure_Beef_68 wrote:

If they are going for "realism" then they wouldn't have Ghillie suits as RL marksmen don't often wear them.Pure_Beef_68 wrote:

In BC2 we had 3 different sets of sprites for the 3 different settings of the game (snow, desert, forest). That could just be the sprites they are using for urban or desert maps.
Yeah I know, i wasn't being too serious. Just noticed some similarities to other games with the characters.
ze vibe is fine, with everything but the sniper imo...
even though they look like they're carrying way too much gear for your average grunt

According to Wiki, 13lbs, which is lighter than the L96.Spark wrote:
How heavy is it IRL? Because from that pic alone, looks way too big to hold/use like that.
yeah I think it's the M82 that's absurdly heavy at ~30 lbs.M.O.A.B wrote:

m95 is a little less heavier around 20 couple lb's. I had to do inventory at the armory and they are very hard to hold just straight up in shooting position for even a few minutes.Trotskygrad wrote:

Ghillie suits were only used in games to give Snipers a distinctive silhouette so they could be easily identified, prioritised and shot before they got to a hiding place. A sniper would not use a ghillie suit in the sort of environments these games take place in. You know how useful looking like a bush is going to be in an urban environment?Pure_Beef_68 wrote:

I'm pleased about the shift away from them. Not only are they pointless but it was ridiculously silly to see a whole herd of wookie-men running into battle at the start of some rounds.

Wow, that picture clearly shows how completely idiotic it is to give the medic a belt-fed machine gun.M.O.A.B wrote:

The guy with the heaviest, most cumbersome weapon, that normally is used to support your squad and suppress the enemy (the latter now is even a game mechanic), is also expected to run around and heal and revive?
He shouldn't run with those scissors either.globefish23 wrote:

I've shouldered an unloaded FN MAG before, which was about 20lbs. Can't imagine trying to lug that thing around, with ammunition on top, all day long.NeXuS wrote:

Fuck, an L86 is hard to hold at ADS position without feeling the strain, I'd hate to try hold an M95, especially with the heavy muzzle break at the end.
Actually the SAW (or at least the Minimi variant that I fiddled around with), doesn't feel quite as heavy as it looks. About 5lbs lighter than the MAG, give or take, and easier to handle. With the MAG you had to set it down to cock it, while you could hold the Minimi with one hand and do the same. That was my experience with it at least.
Yeah, the SA80's are ridiculously heavy.Finray wrote:

It's alright with a shoulder strap or holding it at the waist, but anything other than prone and I struggled to keep it there for more than 5 minutes.

actually supported standing is fine, standing on your own though is hard.
