I remember back in '04, we had something of the sort in Wisconsin. Didn't pass though, thankfully.

Maryland tried passing it but it failed because of the rednecks and the more conservative blacks (both groups are full of fundies). We do recognize licenses from other states though. One could just go right next door to DC and marry there.

Why would you care? Really? What does marriage between a same sex couple have anything to do with you, or how does it hinder your life?

Just ignore him Kmar. He said he doesn't care yet clearly by being the person who has posted the most in this thread, he does care. Topics I don't care about I tend not to post in...

Yeah it would be a snowflake's chance in hell to see all states introduce it in any forseeable future but certainly the less backward ones would be at least considering it.

I still can't believe that leftist strongholds like the entire West Coast have not legalized it yet Iowa has. When a small corn-producing midwestern state is more progressive than yours, you live in a fucked up place.

Why does it bother you? You live in Florida.
Where did I say it bothered me.  My care cup is empty there.

I'm just tired of all the 'gay pride' shit thrown in my face.  Do I drive around with some sort of 'heterosexual pride' bumper sticker on my car?  Do they even exist?
Probably because they've been oppressed for hundreds of years. I'm quite sure that had homosexuals always had the same rights as everyone else then the whole gay pride thing would never have taken off. That doesn't mean it's just going to disappear overnight though.

What right does a straight person have that a gay person does not?

why? No gay person or straight person has the right to marry the same sex. A gay person and straight person both have the right to marry the opposite sex.

We all have the same rights under the law. Period. except when it comes to insurance. There, gays have more rights than we do.

Not the right to marry a person of their sexual orientation.

In many states it is still OK for employers to discriminate based on sexual orientation as well.

Because you've had this argument ten times. If you want to masturbate, go back into one of the other threads where you've made the same arguments. It's boring lowing. Exceedingly boring.

Hence the problem.  I can understand and agree with the notion of 'civil union' (wedding in front of a justice of the peace, captain, etc), but what I don't understand is why gays would want a 'church marriage'.  That would be like me suing to join a club of a bunch of people who don't like you.  What's the point?  Freedom on association is being trampled on.

Marriage is a legally binding document.
You can get married and have absolutely nothing to do with religion.

Just because you have heard it before does not make the point invalid. I have heard the gay rights bullshit argument before as well.
