Anti-Americanism is a pretty common thread around the world, for various reasons, mostly US support of despotic regimes - one of which is Israel.

I don't remember the entire ME being previously quite as anti-american as it is now though.

Still, if you think sending your tax dollars to fruitcakes who think passing curses and ordering stonings should be part of the criminal justice process then LOL to you.

That's because the dictators who repressed those sentiments are falling. Take Eygpt as an example. The border is now open between Palestine and Egypt. Mubarak didn't allow that, in part due to the American influence. The Eygptian public really didn't like that and anti American/Mubarak sentiment grew. As soon as he was toppled, the border opens and the feelings are released.
