I know you are half (or entirely) trolling but I have seen some vistas/underground caverns in Minecraft that look really good. For a game that is/was never about having good graphics it manages pretty well I think.Uzique wrote:

I don't really notice the difference in that lighting, unless the colored bits of blue on the bottom mean that *gasp* Notch implemented colored lighting. For all I love building in Minecraft and will probably never really put the game down permanently, I've been having far more exploration fun in Terraria with its variety of monsters, random chests, boss fights and underground as well as above-ground biomes. Also, its floating islands actually have a point. And despite the fact that it's 2D, it's far easier to make a place look "homey" with more kinds of blocks, textures and nicknacks.
Minecraft also has had a ton of time in the alpha and beta stages, yet long-known glitches, bugs, exceptions and bad network code have been allowed to persist for far longer than they should have.
i know minecraft has an art-direction and an aesthetic, but i just don't 'get' it. tf2 had a different aesthetic and it worked very well. i'm just not sure i have much of a favouring of minecraft's beyond-retrograde style, personally.
