They're not mad, look at some of the pics, they are actually smiling/laughing at the destruction of someone else's property. Just like a good liberal thinks, if it isn't theirs, it is theirs for the taking.13rin wrote:
I didn't think that people in canadia got mad. I've always been amused at how people destroy their own cities after a victory/loss. Morons.

The videos I've seen are fucking disgraceful. People are being assaulted for reminding people that they're breaking their own fucking city. Cops should bust out the rubber bullets and go to town on the fuckers.
I was downtown during the game and the mayhem, how embarrassing. Myself and a bunch of friends like thousands of others went downtown to watch the game. We managed to get a sweet spot watching the game at some Taco Del Mar that served Liquor. We were expecting the same kind of atmosphere downtown that was created during the 2010 Winter Olympics. Man were we wrong.
By the time the game ended and the canucks lost people started to get extremely violent. Fights broke out on the street over literally nothing, cars torched, windows smashed, porta-potties tipped over, stores looted, smoke and teargas everywhere. The police where present were extremely outnumbered and really didn't have a good plan on how to clear out so many people from the downtown core. Ambulances couldn't get to the people hurt, firefighters couldn't get to the fires and all signs of a civilized city broke down. I felt like I was in a war zone.
Many of the people that started the riot were not Canuck fans. They brought with them liter fluid, bandannas and masks with the sole purpose of starting a riot, win or loose. They were most likely not from Vancouver but from the surrounding cities in the British Colombian lower mainland. I feel like this riot was not because of the game. People were just looking for an excuse to cause destruction. The people involved will get caught by the police. This is 2011, cameras are everywhere and most people didn't cover their face because they were too drunk and angry to care. Facebook has also played a huge role in sharing discriminating photos and identifying those involved.
The most messed up thing I saw was some Innocent lady who parked her SUV downtown (pictured below). She just stood there crying while "fans" tried to tip over her SUV and nobody did anything about it.
We managed stay out of trouble and get on the skytrain leaving downtown before it got dark and before transit got clogged with too many people trying to leave.
I took mostly video, but here are a few pics I got with my phone.
