The LG plasma television my parents bought a year and a half ago has an entire column of dead pixels on the left side of the screen.

With a total budget of about $1400 ($1100ish from warranty + a few hundred cash) what does BF2s recommend as a replacement 46-55" television? The thing'll be in the basement with a couple windows above and behind it on the wall.

Restricted to this company unfortunately.

I'm trying to look around on that website, but it keeps telling me to enter a postal code 'for an optimal shopping experience' what postal code can I use? It doesn't like mine

EDIT: Nvm, google to the rescue.

EDIT: My parents have this one (only they have the 42'' instead of the 46'') http://www1.thebrick.com/brickb2c/jsp/c … navCount=2 which is a pretty nice tv. Only drawback it has, that browsing through the sources can be a bit slow-ish (but that could also be because were using a different remote then the tv comes with)

I read that they seem to be quite similar in performance besides the 580 using DX11.

The 295 is fast enough to run most everything out right now, but I would bear in mind that all the videos they've shown of BF3 so far are from a rig running a 580/580s iirc. BF3 looks like it will beat the shit out of machines at the high end, but I'd imagine they will bring it down so that it will run on midrange hardware well, since it is not a good idea to be the next Crysis simply because you don't want your game to be a poor seller because no one can run it well. I have a feeling that a 570 will be more than enough for BF3, at least at 1080p, but if you've got the budget and are happy with the rest of your computer, you might as well go for it.

I would, however, wait until the exact specs needed to run the game well are a bit more clear, because there may well be something new coming by the time BF3 is out, since the GTX 500 series will have been around for close to a year at that point, and the 295 is still more than powerful enough for the games that are out now, for the most part.

Does anyone know the name of a program which will allow you to create hotlinks to files on servers?
Its handy for putting links into work emails, I just can't remember the name of the one I used to use.

Why should they "bring that shit down" when you can just set it to medium detail and still be happy?

The incremental backup backs up the files changed since the last incremental backup doesn't it?

I guess I meant more along the lines of lower end hardware, or what would be considered relatively mid range-low end at this point. I just can't imagine that game running well on anything below the performance level of a 4870/GTX 260.

For instance, I imagine that BF3 would look like shit or run like shit on my friend's E8400 and 9800GTX+, while I imagine my other friend would be able to run it reasonably well at a medium-ish detail setting on his i7 920 and GTX 260 Core 216.

In the crazy world we live in, that is now the low-mid(E8400, 9800GTX+) to mid-high(i7, GTX 260) range almost.

BF3 just looks so good that I can't imagine it won't have fairly high requirements for looking like that video did.

Can anyone recommend a program to get my music from my iPhone and put it onto my PC?

I know there's a whole bunch of them out there but I'd like a recommendation.

hehe, my flatmate was just telling me that he needed to buy a new laptop, I asked why? He said "i cracked the screen on my old laptop "

I just looked at him and said you can replace the screen... he said "i didn't know you can replace the screen"

haha, looks like I just saved him a few hundred quid.

Ideas aren't nearly as important as implementation with regards to technology. I mean really, everybody has an idea.

Could also be that hardware updates for PC's are shit compared to the boosts they used to give. But I can't really see people squirreling their porn away in some Cloud for anyone to get to. The PC (including Apple PC's), in one form or another, will survive.
