A single representative (out of the 535 Congressmen we have) claims most of the backlash against Obama is racist. There just happens to be a single black person in congress who happens to feel that Obama hasn't been given a fair shot because of the color of skin and only you had the foresight to predict this.

Threads like these really don't help people not think you are at least a little racist dude. Honestly I don't see where this thread can possibility go.

I think they'd write an article about someone if they proclaimed that Obama's shit smelled like oranges, I truly doubt this is necessarily proof of Obama's position.

Still, if you proclaimed that race was somehow going to have a role in the election, well yeah, of course it will. It will because there will always be idiots who hate the notion of a black president, and because of idiots who think having a black president will somehow change the world. I'd imagine Obama wouldn't be doing anyone a favor by proclaiming a separation from race since anyone with a quarter of a brain cell has already separated Obama from race.

Ahhhh, so this is the first time you have heard accusations of racism regarding anything and everything Obama does in the negative? Where ya been Macbeth...

I do not care what people think of me, I simply ask if you are going to throw accusations, at least has something to back them up. and to date, no one has.

No of course not. I'm saying: it doesn't matter what one person says, it doesn't prove anything one way or another. Honestly I really don't see what you are reaching for with this thread.

It was also agreed upon by everyone that there would be at least some accusations of racism by Obama supporters. This is not surprising to anyone. Not to say they aren't right at least every so often...

and Iam saying this person is a govt official not some shuck off the street. It matters. Oh and it has been more than 1 person over the past coupla years.

Some accusations? SOME?! Accusations of racism is all it has been when speaking of Obama's performance in the negative.

There are 535 people in Congress. This one guy represents less than a fifth of 1% of everyone in Congress. Now throw in retired elected officials, leaders of state governments, etc. and we're around in the low thousands. Within that group you could find Holocaust deniers, moon landing hoaxers, Kennedy conspiracy theorist etc. Even if you manage to get 50 of them to agree with the him you would still have proven nothing.

It's well known that monkey's have been used to dehumanize blacks since the oh 1700's. It's obviously racist.
Crude historical depictions of African Americans as ape-like may have disappeared from mainstream U.S. culture, but research presented in a new paper by psychologists at Stanford, Pennsylvania State University and the University of California-Berkeley reveals that many Americans subconsciously associate blacks with apes.

In addition, the findings show that society is more likely to condone violence against black criminal suspects as a result of its broader inability to accept African Americans as fully human, according to the researchers.

Just close this thread.
How you can dismiss this as "just one guy", when since Obama has been elected, everyone and everything that opposed him, from NOT voting for him to Obamacare has been met with accusations of racism, and the fact that, that opposition had anything to do with a difference of opinion or agenda has been largely dismissed. "Just one guy", are you serious?

Sorry Macbeth, I am not gunna shoulder the responsibility of societies problems on my shoulders. I couldn't care less what flashing some cue cards at some white kids leads you to believe. Was any studies made at flashing cue cards at black kids? Any revelations of such a study ? What does it say about society when the race credit card is played so easily and willingly by those that insist they see it where ever they choose to look even if it means making it up?

There is a direct comparison to be made in the disrespect shown to Bush that was simply "funny", and legitimate criticism against Obama and it is considered racist. Hell you are even gunna provide a university study to "PROVE it". By claiming white people are racist, isn't that bigoted itself? Or is bigotry and racism reserved for "whites only"?

Macbeth, there is no reason to get mad, if you do not want to post in this thread, don't, but why do you feel these comparisons are not worth talking about? What does it say when you yourself are guilty of dismissing criticism of Obama as racist and want the "thread closed" because you don't like it?

Well the article you posted was just one guy. So if you would like to post some further evidence feel free.

Or we can argue on generalisations and hearsay like usual.

Some old fart Democrat from South Carolina said something dumb, why is this worth commenting on? We're talking South Carolina Democrats here, where Alvin Greene can win a Senate primary due to sheer stupidity and fairy dust. It isn't exactly beyond belief that a politician like Clyburn would reflect the thick-head argument for Obama.

I mentioned this in another thread but when Bush was in power anyone in opposition to him was dismissed as "Bush-Bashing", which sounded like it was some new popular trend. With Obama it's "racism". It's exactly the same thing but in both cases it is not a majority opinion and both of them are as false as each other. Why dignify people like Clyburn with any attention?

A good point Ty, but isn't there a difference between blaming Bush for the weather, (and yes by and large Bush himslef was accused as being a racist) and opposing Obamacare, for example?

“When he sees his face being put on a chimpanzee’s body; do you think he didn’t see that?” Clyburn asked. “I suspect they send the same faxes to his office they send to mine.”
After remembering SOOOO many chimped-out George W. pics, it's difficult for me to take this guy seriously.

surprised? not hardly, in fact, I anticipated the very dismissals and denials the issue has received  since his election .

Well maybe, but that's probably because Bush generally implimented his policies before people started criticising him about them. With Obama it's happens before he impliments them. People, (supporters,) are asking themselves "well why is this?" and are incorrectly coming to the conclusion that this is because of underlying racism, (which actually speaks more to their racism than anyone else's.)

It's stupid not only because it's wrong but also because it ignores the real issues. On Obamacare, people aren't concerned about it because a black guy is backing it, they're concerned about it because they have doubts about the effectiveness and/or effects of socialised healthcare. Supporters of this policy and those like it bleating about 'racism' are ignoring a chance to actually discuss the issue, to debate the concerns and to work towards consensus.
