what do i need to know about living in montreal? moving there in july for at least a few months. i've heard that there are lots of hotties and they all speak english. is this true? if i ended up staying during the winter, what's it like then? thx

All around its not a bad place to be....to be honest with you, i myself hate montreal for the fact its a huge city compared to where i live, but if your are from a big city, you'll do just fine.
Swearing is not "cool"...but i must admit its somewhat a lifestyle. You will be hearing loads of, Tabarnaque, Caliss, Siboire, Ostie and the list goes on!

ive been there tons of times, i have 2 cousins im really close with that live there. basically everyone that lives in the city is bilingual since its biggest university is mcgill - an english uni. obviously, being quebec, there are still shitloads of people who are hardcore frenchies who will yell at you for speaking english in public but just tell them to fuck off.
restaurants and all that will have their menus in french, but you can either ask for an english one (which they usually have), ask your friends or ask the waiter for translations.
its a really fun city though, i recommend checking the LARPing and drums on mont royal on sunday mornings, its hilarious.
and the winter is a bitch, way worse than what we get in toronto. shitloads of snow and nasty, cold winds
