You still need to assess the extent of the damage. Because it is a damage to the property. Usually a crack in the foundation is the regular cause of mold. You will need to remove all rotten piece of material affected. Carpet, wood, gyproc. If on wood it is only surface affected it can be sanded down to wood again.
It is bad because this is a health threat. Seriously. It can cause all sorts of damage to your body, brain, lungs. You have to get clear of that.
Get a mold inhibitor to prevent re apparition of it.
Now it will be expensive either in cash or in health. Pay the cash, keep your health to be able to work to recuperate the money you spent on repairs.
