I'll say it again for those who don't understand people like Hurri are trolling.

I don't believe judgement is coming on the 21st.

Judgement Day happened on August 29th, 1997.

But Arnie averted it.

The rapture looks very homoerotic.

I heard somewhere the same guy behind this movement also predicted judgement day was going to happen in 94 or 97. But ya what do you think their excuses are going to be? I just wish someone has been doing a documentary on them this whole time and continually films on 21st and succeeding days. That's something I'd definitely pay to watch.

haha "the guy" behind the movement? apocalypse religions are as old as history itself. all judeo-christian theology has an eschatology. it's not a modern crackpot american thing... you guys just seem to be perpetuating it more than us in europe, where we've moved on.

Yes, 'the guy' behind the movement. As this topic is about the world ending in May and not apocalypse religions in a whole I was talking about 'the guy'. Did I somewhere imply this is something completely new and that everyone must be amazed by 'this guy'? What would be very interesting is do have someone doing an in-depth video documentary before, during and after the event. There's one thing reading an article and there's something completely different about actually watching them during this event. That is something I'm sure would be unique.

my point was that there's always been 'the guy' making dates and decrying the end of the world. harold camping is the modern american manifestation of the archetypal 'that guy'. the doom-caller, or whatever you wish to call it. and usm i have no idea what having a non-functioning monarchy has to do with apocalypse religion. what do politics have to do with culture?

Usually though, "that guy" picks a date far off enough to where he won't be around to be called on it when he's wrong.

I expect a small luncheon on the 20th followed by ritualistic suicide on the 21st.

Yeah, the whole "heaven on a comet hurling past earth" thing was much funnier. Partly because of how easily it could be disproven(and yet was believed), and partly because of  the whole premise of "committing suicide to stop from committing suicide".

This seems to me like someone wanted to get attention and so they went with it, I've yet to see a basis for this May 21st assertion.
