I need some help, if anyone would be so kind

My BB runs off of a USB modem, specifically a Thomson SpeedTouch 330. I think my one is starting to fall over on me, dropping connection and putting a lot of static/noise on the phone line (when unplugged, the static/noise goes, so...).

By chance I have another identical modem, but from when I was with a previous ISP. The problem is that it seems to be locked? I've google'd a fair bit but I still can't even get into the modems configuration screen From one of the finds on google, I typed "IPCONFIG" into the CMD box and it gave me the IP Address/Default Gateway, but when I typed that (both are the same) into the browsers address bar, I just get Page Not Displayed.

I know I could buy a new modem, and I will if I can prove this one I'm using is duff, but I'd rather be 100% certain than %75 certain. Plus it's a long weekend so it won't be until next week that I can get one delivered

Thanks in advance

reset the modem, try again
once upon a midnight dreary, while i pron surfed, weak and weary, over many a strange and spurious site of ' hot  xxx galore'. While i clicked my fav'rite bookmark, suddenly there came a warning, and my heart was filled with mourning, mourning for my dear amour, " 'Tis not possible!", i muttered, " give me back my free hardcore!"..... quoth the server, 404.

Possibly a stupid question but how? There is no external reset button etc, and I've removed the USB lead several times, rebooted etc?

There's usually a tiny hole at the back like this...

Push a pencil into it for about 5 seconds and the thing should reset.

No, it's nothing quite as complex as the one you've pictured lol. It's just a small case, a USB and phone line connection, that's it

USB modems are shite.

The reason it won't do anything in the web browser is because USB modems don't have web config. They need to be set up entirely by Windows.

Do not even bother with it and spend £50 on a new four-port Wifi.

Over here we're using Netgear DGN1000 and DLink DSL-2730B.
