they also had a little screen array that had a resolution of 12800x4800

the tape was in a special room with huge firedoors, and when there is fire they pump the room full with argon to remove the oxygen, and all the tapes are mirrored with a 2nd data center.

You'd be surprised how often fires happen in datacenters. One of our SAN datacenters did just that, twice, last year and a few months ago. All it takes is failure of the cooling system.

Actually, I think the opposite is true.

The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. it was quite cool, also because the CPUs all were water cooled, from 5 °C -> 25 °C. The air was a just a bit warmer in the back that was used to cool the rest
