I watched Just Go With It last night - 1/10
Maybe it was my mood but I shut it off after 30 minutes. Started to watch Limitless but fell asleep. What I saw was pretty good.

Watched a bit more of this series. I don't think it's the 'best' or 'most complete' of docs on the Crusades ever done, but it's fun enough. They put a lot of effort into sets and costumes.

Most of the things you find "good" are really really reaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaly terrible.
Such as? No need to mention Battle: LA by the way. Find something else.

Was okey on the comical side. Some bits were a bit frustrating.

Inception 8/10
- Wasn't as surreal as I was expecting. I was a bit disappointed at the whole "just buy the fact that people do this group dreaming thing" bit. No backstory to flesh that out or anything. Still very good overall. That was the only real criticism I could find for it. The ending was very well done, as well. Actually watched this one today while at my son's IVIG infusion at the hospital, not on the flight to China.

District 9 8/10
- This was obviously more of a discussion on man's innate tendency to mistreat anything different than himself (ie, racism, ethnocentrism, etc), but taken to a whole different level. Excellent special effects, great premise. Not centering it on the US or Europe was a nice touch, as well.

Inglorious Basterds 6/10
- The whole "alternate history" thing was interesting, but it wasn't Tarantino's best work. Not by a long shot.

Defiance 6/10
- I generally enjoy films based on historical events, but this one had a few too many trite bits of dialogue to make it fully enjoyable. The overall historical story is incredible, but the writing for the film left quite a bit to be desired.

First 1/3 of True Grit 8/10
- I definitely want to see the rest of this. The dialogue was unbelievable.

Long flight to Beijing.

I love how people just post numerical ratings to movies instead of actually going into why they like or don't like it. Instead of actually rating movies this thread is about what you last watched.

It really matters that much to you? Who cares?

BTW FEOS your ratings of Inglourious Basterds and Defiance make me a sad panda.

It would be interesting to actually see some arguments behind the ratings instead of list with numbers next to them. I don't think anyone gives a shit of about FEOS taste in movies enough to take his word on District 9 without any sort of you know justification.

I mean I just don't think it matters that much. It's a thread on a gaming forum... not RottenTomatoes or Metacritic.

Then debate and serious talk should be deleted because it is a gaming forum.

Well shit I just expected an internet forum (you know discussion board) to actually have discussions regarding movies in a thread about movies.

Sorry. I was on my phone sitting in the hospital with my kid. Didn't have tons of time or ability to go into graphic detail. I'll edit to make you happy. But I'll avoid breaking it out into individual quote trees. I know how that bothers you.

Very good film. As always, Ellen Page rules and the crazy amount of unnecessary violence was brilliant. Quite a few people I recognised, too.

It did have a few dumb parts.

Like when he drank the blood. (he should've made it to that dropped syringe imo. And you never find out if he raped that girl and killed her. Movie should've gone on for another 30 or so mins to explain that, and have him face off against De Niro imo. Would've been great if he made it to Pres then had the rape/murder be pinned on him and bring him down completely.

So I finally got around to watching Inception.

Pretty good, up until the twist at the end, which caused a shit ton of plot holes, as well as was just so stupidly anti-climactic. If the movie didn't have that one ten second shot at the never end, it would have been really good.
