Looking at booking flights from LAX to LAS. I have two options:

1) Spirit Airlines 9:55am - $33 pp (inc taxes)
2) Delta Airlines 10:25 - $119 pp (inc taxes)

I've read certain reviews that Spirit have hidden fees for things like carry on luggage etc. I obviously have no experience with either so I'd really appreciate some opinions/knowledge here to help me make the booking, as prices are starting to climb already.

What seems to be trickier is finding the hidden price on some car rentals. A lot of quotes don't include a one way fee, which can be up to $250 from LAX to LAS.

It's really just a place to crash out at random times, and it looks impressive to the folks back home. I've heard there are definitely better around, but for the price it's pretty good for the location.

Some people on trip advisor suggest we don't stay in Sedona. Would Flagstaff be an alternative? Just trying to get as much input as possible

They said it's really hot in August, touristy and a bit expensive. I have no idea of course. My suggestion of staying there was then made by the bride to all invited so I'd rather not change but at the same time I don't want my idea to be taken on board only to have realized a better place is nearby.

We've changed once more. We are now flying from LAX to LAS. Five hours in a car after a thirteen hour flight in that heat might be a bit much. In any case I've already booked the flights. Thinking of hiring a convertible whilst in Vegas though.

Sedona plans are still going ahead. Groom has stayed there, bride's parents live in Phoenix.

I've had it suggested to me to fly from Phoenix to Reno, then drive to Yosemite from there. Check out Bodie State Historic Park for some ghost towns. I was directed to this site, it has most certainly whetted my appetite for some truly grand scenery - http://www.yosemitehikes.com/

If you're going to Reno, you should go by Lake Tahoe.

yosemite also rocks. takes easily a full day just to blow around the main 'attractions', we stayed for 3 which gave much more exploring time

I'm only planning travel and accom. I have no activities planned whatsoever. Except for the bucks night on the Thursday in Vegas followed by the wedding on the Saturday. Even that feels like too much planning, I was hoping for completely random... it probably will be anyway.

My approach to all this is to book accom and travel early to save $$$ and I've also been told Yosemite can book out early, so I don't want to miss out.

As far as attractions, I'm doing my research so I know what there is and then just do whatever comes to mind when we're there.
