2.2.3 - froyo i believe? havent played with many android devices before this and not any which are rooted
for me is was important to root so i could get SD card support.
in general it's good to root when
you don't care about warranty
there are features in hardware that software unlocks
you want to clean a base install
want to change carriers
with the Xoom having an unlockable bootloader it made it easy to root.

we got it for free and im pretty sure no warranty - dell gave it to my dad for free
i have no idea if it unlocks features, i would imagine so since it would unlock programs for any android device
i need to reset it to factory default anyway
no sim card, and wont have a sim card in it at any point (most likely)
from a quick google it doesnt seem to be that complex of a procedure

froyo's a phone kernel, i've done my homework on Honeycomb - but i will recommend xda forum, and android.net for the best support.
if it was free, have at it i'd say . . .

what kind of custom rom did you go with? one of the big name ones like cyanogen or a smaller one? ive found one thats particularly highly reviewed (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthr … ?t=1037086). i dont really know what to go with. also, will this allow me to get around paying stupid amounts of money for apps?
tiamat. it enabled SD card support (and a nice overclock as well)
Winston, i'm on an android tablet, honeycomb 3.0 was made for tablets . . .

yeah that custom one is supposed to overclock it quite a bit as well. and this thing basically it a tablet, it can be used as a phone but it would be comically large at around 7 inches... im going to be using it as a tablet for school next year so i wanna set it up and get it suited to my needs for then.
wouldn't hurt to try the tiamat kernel then. i used adb to push it, and am converting my .mk4 into mp4, to run through 'gallery' (an app native to honeycomb). watching movies on this is splendid, a dual-core tegra that can handle 20mbs rips . . .

Froyo 2.2 minimum to get Netflix working. Gingerbread folks have gotten it working.
Search for "netflix, inc" on the Market.
Nook Color support. I'll try this this weekend:

G-Tablet.

My G-Tablet is running CM 7.0.3 with Pershoot's 2.6.32.39 CM7 Kernel
I sideloaded the Netflix App then moved it to the SD card.
I am running the 10.3 update of Adobe Flash Player (not sure if this is relevant)
I modified 2 lines in my /system/build.prop file as follows
ro.product.model=HTC Vision
ro.product.manufacturer=HTC
Reboot

my Tablet haz mouse support now . . .
Remote Desktop
I was confused by the name at first, but this is definitely something i've grown to love.
Major Points:
- It's browser based.
- Allows you to send/recieve SMS
- Allows you to browse gallery/file system and download the files.
- Ofcourse it's password protected.
Worth a look into...
