What's the advantages for you with that keyboard? Other than it being mechanical it's a pretty basic keyboard..Uzique wrote:
how is a keyboard in any way an investment? i don't get that logic. now im all for expensive, decent hardware but the 'keystroke' life of keyboards is never gonna be used up... even the plastic shitty ones that have a tenth of the lifespan - it's still a shitload of keypresses! the 120 euros you spend on that keyboard you're never getting back... and it's never going to last any longer than a conventional normal, cheap keyboard so...
i do see it as an expensive purchase
Thats also good.Uzique wrote:

actually i look at my screen to see the time every now and again, without it i'd have to move my eyes even further down to my watch!Uzique wrote:
mechanical is almost entirely the whole point. wow.
what's the advantage of a keyboard with LED's, a screen you never look at, 5 inches of desk-eating space for macro-keys you never use, and useless tacky buttons for 'windows key locks' and other such bollocks? i think you have to rethink just what a 'basic keyboard' is and why you're using that as a pejorative.

... once again fflink doesn't know what he's talkingFFLink wrote:
I love my Sidewinder because of the backlight for the dark, removable NumPad for space-saving, easy volume control knobs/media functions and macro keys right next to the WASD area for program launches/macros.
No useless/gimmicky features for me, just advantages. Only cost £40 (I think) and it's the best keyboard I've ever owned.
I'd never pay any higher for something without any real benefit to justify the cost.
Really depends on what your looking for. The sidewinder is a good keyboard. Not everyone needs mechanical the same way you don't need features they are looking for.Uzique wrote:

mechanical keyboards have a huge benefit for typing

You questioned the advantage of features non-mechanical keyboards have, I explained the advantages with myself and my keyboard as examples.Uzique wrote:

Personally I like the idea of being able to remove the numpad that the sidewinder uses. A mech keyboard w/ brown or black, removable numpad, and backlit keys would be totally ideal for me.
