Got any pumice soap or anything like it? Failing that, give Goof-Off a shot, if you're not a pussy about a little toxin.eleven bravo wrote:

Well no headlines this morning of driver in out of control vehicle, so far people are safe.
C-clamp like above. It's a must-have tool anyway.
I did my brakes yesterday as they were f00ked. They were badly squeaky when up to the temperature even when I was not braking and inner faces got rusty as the pads had contact only with half of the surface of the discs and developed silly lip in the middle of the faces lol. Changing discs and pads is a 60-90 minute job when you do both sides. To remove brake discs from my car I had to remove caliper carriers first. And that's a bitch to remove. I had to stand on a spanner to make the bloody bolts move. It was supposed to be 95Nm, but time and temperature make it hard to remove sometimes.
Changing just pads is nothing. It's a 30-45 minute job.
After fitting new discs and pads.

It's time for my 4runner to get new brakes. Toyota wants $1200+ to do front and back. I haven't changed my own brakes since my '83 RX7. Some research to do I guess.
well, my car is fucked

That's fucking ludicrous. Take it to Pep Boys and they'll do it for like $100, parts included.CC-Marley wrote:

That sucks. Go to AutoZone and they're like $70 with a lifetime warranty.eleven bravo wrote:

Hopefully they wont have to resurface the rotor.
I stood in line for four hours. They better give me a Wal-Mart gift card, or something. - Rodney Booker, Job Fair attendee.

I've had enough monkeys mess with my car that I either do it myself or let the main dealer do it.

@Eleven Bravo
In future, just park it on your lawn, strip it to the shell, scatter the parts around your yard and get another car.
Fuck Israel
well I figured out what I did wrong (put on one of the brake pads the other way around) but its not giving me much pressure after my remedy. I released a lot of brake fluid through the bleed valve when I was doing it. maybe thats why my brakes arent up to par right now, low fluid. I see the resevoir and its not empty.
