Yeah I was at a Air Force base which is at the centre of some ridiculous alien conspiracy. It was described in this article as a high-security, secret facility. Fucking high security, secret facility my ass

I'm watching a piece on the Republican Tea Party people on the BBC right now, they keep talking about lower taxes/high government spending and big government, but has all of this actually changed in those ways since the Bush era?

I'm wondering from Americans on this board, have taxes actually gone up since Obama and co came into power?

I think these Tea Party Republicans are gonna sweep this mid elections, I wonder if anything will actually change

Marginal tax rates have. If the Bush-era tax cuts expire, then tax rates will go up on everyone who pays taxes...not just those who make over $250k, as has been advertised.

WE, the relatively unbothered and well off, hold these truths to be self evident: that Big Government, Big Deficits and Big Tobacco are bad, but that big bath-rooms and 4x4's are not; that American overseas involvement should be restricted to trade agreements, mutual funds and the visiting of certain beachfront resorts; that markets can take care of themselves as long as they take care of us; that an individual's sex life is nobody's business, though highly entertaining; and that the only rights that really matter are those which indulge the Self.

Wow, out of all the protests around the world over the wars and all the other shit that was thrown at this guy (in some cases, literally) during his presidency, apparently it was Kanye West speaking publicly whom upset Bush the most

Following the New York Times' scoop on George W. Bush's upcoming memoir, NBC is out tonight with excerpts of an interview Matt Lauer conducted with the former president set to air next week.

Among other things, Bush says the lowest moment of his presidency was when rapper Kanye West declared in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina that "Bush doesn't care about black people." "That 'he's a racist,' " Bush told Lauer. "I resent it, it's not true, and it was one of the most disgusting moments of my presidency."

Bush writes, per Lauer, that he can barely think about the moment "without feeling disgust" and that it outranks people criticizing him for the war in Iraq or his efforts to cut taxes to benefit the rich.

In the interview, Lauer interjects, telling Bush he's likely to take "heat" for saying the "worst moment" was not watching the post-Katrina misery in Louisiana but rather when someone insulted him because of that misery. "The misery in Louisiana affected me deeply as well," Bush told Lauer. "There's a lot of tough moments in the book. And it was a disgusting moment, pure and simple."

According to NBC, Bush also reveals that administration officials investigated a terrorist attack at the White House after 9/11 when bio-detectors indicated a potential botulism attack. "We had all been exposed to it … and had we inhaled it, we could easily be dead," Bush told Lauer.

Officials went so far as to test the air on lab mice. "We kind of chuckled and said, 'Well, if the mice are feet up, we're goners. And if they're feet down, we're fine,' " Bush said.

Investigators ruled the scare eventually as a false alarm.

Bush spent more than any president ever on AIDs in Africa. He also had several black people in his cabinet. Kanye West is just a moron.

I still love me some Kanye, but that comment was ridiculous and totally out of place. You're gonna have an opinion like that, go right ahead... NOT when it's a nationally televised event to help victims of a natural disaster.
