I know, lets put our trust in the least reliable part of the average car - the electronics and software.

i'll tell you why i like to see the traffic cams before i leave in the morning - a live look at what's down the road, and time spent driving, equals a good guesstimate of the hold up your likely to see.

ok, i know that's from my fox news/royal marriage rant earlier, but really - i've saved my ass more often by stepping on the gas pedal than the brake pedal, and i know that from experience one has to be ready for an 'out' in traffic, than be ready to lock up the brakes.

way better than the fucking GPS telling me there was an accident .5 miles ago.

Why not? Making cars even more computerized is a great idea, giving more of our paychecks to mechanics will help stimulate the economy. 2 birds, one stone.

People that dont pull up at lights are obnoxious. All youre doing is creating traffic.

If there's like a billion cars behind you, sure, pull up. Any rear-ender will have to go through them before they get to you. Leaving space is mostly for if you're the last guy in line. It's not a hardwired rule. There's obviously analog variations to it, so you can give yourself space when you need it without being a hard-headed douche about it. Obviously, for short city roads, you won't be able to pull it off as often.

You can do that, but the guy about to hit you still has to see them. If he's about to hit you anyway, it's probably not going to help much. Avoiding whiplash > getting someone else to pay to fix your car.

Yea.  In some States fuzzbusters are illegal.  But not in my neck of the woods.    I'm currently investigating the best option for mah' bike.  Trying to see if there is a cop behind you via mirrors is impossible.  A head check is too obvious.
RDD = Radar Detector Detector.

The polive have the Radar, you have the Radar Detector...Thus...RD, but sometimes they have a RDD, So they can detect your detector...this can go on forever...RDDDDD etc etc. In my little corner of the world they dont have RDD so my RD is fine! But if im caught with it...its a 600$ fine plus they take away my Detector...but well, it have paid itself by now!

Or.. you know... you could just go the speed limit... pays for itself in that it's free...

No, I'm crazy. There's no way you could drive that way. That would require moving one's foot from the gas pedal to the brake, which is simply absurd when you're trying to get somewhere.

This has been the case a few times, but it's mainly because of the aggressiveness of drivers around me, or drivers not respecting the right-of-way and forcing me to hit the gas before they ram into me.

It helps oodles, not only by allowing you to quickly make turns without jamming up traffic, and giving you wiggle room in case of an emergency, but also gives other drivers room to snug in and reach a quick exit without having to force their way in.

There's a reason driver manuals say to keep 2 car lengths apart.

I always keep space in front of me. I also have some weird natural talent for maintaining the gap perfectly. The only time I don't keep a gap is when I'm at a busy exit and there's a bunch of assholes trying to skip the line.
