Billions of Galaxies, each with billions of stars, each with multiple planets. It's pretty far fetched to believe Earth is somehow unique. There is no hard proof, but life does exist here so it seems logical for it to exist elsewhere too.Jay wrote:

Plenty of theoretical possibilities to circumvent light speed, I don't think that's going to be a deal breaker at all. Problem is going to be not hitting ANY space debris or asteroid when going at such insane speeds, unless the 'wormhole' thingy is possible . Besides, we've only scratched the surface in understanding the world around us, there's still plenty of stuff to find out or work with. Actually, we've still got to understand pretty much... everything.
This whole alien stuff is great entertainment IMHO. Sure I do believe there's intelligent life out there somewhere, perhaps some that is more, or much more, advanced than us - after all the universe is billions of years older than our planet and definitely older than the human race. Combined with the fact that life seems to be possible in the most weird places. Though I don't believe aliens, given they exist and are intelligent and capable of interstellar travel, would bother coming here, or if 'they' even know of our existence (universe being so large and all).

As far as we know, the speed of light is the limit so far, even if we can exceed this(not impossible) it's going to take vast amounts of time to even travel our galaxy, let alone others.
