The scent of LA?
they get almost no rain and it's basically in a bowl, so all the smoke and exhaust and whatnot kinda just sits there and attacks your lungsJaekus wrote:

I've done worse to my lungs before
oh, but the sunsets!
LAX is at the coast. Not an issue with smog. Besides, the winds blow most of smog far inland into Riverside and San Bernardino. If you stay around the coast, like Santa Monica, Venice, Malibu, etc, it's awesome. It'll be close to 90 degrees Fahrenheit this Saturday, so it'll be perfect beach eye candy weather.
I actually don't really care that much about the smog, I'm more interested in the fact I'm going overseas and seeing some new places, smog and all!

A 4 way stop sounds incredibly stupid. The entire point of the stop sign is to establish a clear right of way without having to install lights.
I think we're well past the stop sign thing that was a derail in the first place.
Any other Vegas tricks?
Any other Vegas tricks?
Go to the gun store and shoot as many ridiculous guns as you can afford. It's awesome.
Ellis Island Casino & Brewery. yes, you read that right - Casino & Brewery.Jaekus wrote:

going in the evening? go to the bar and then the BBQ.
going in the morning? go to the restaurant for breakfast, and then throw a few bucks in the slots.
going on a roadtrip? pick up a growler, or three.
Is it possible to get BBQ for breakfast? I've still never been there and I keep meaning to go.
Thanks m8burnzz wrote:

Found a Black Wolf Cedar Breaks 65ltr backpack with daypack for $150, reduced from $250
Had the debate between a suitcase or a backpack. Figured the backpack is more versatile and the daypack is really useful to have.
I've looked into travel insurance and found I don't need a visa for my holiday (I do need to apply for a visa waiver, it costs like $14 USD, pretty much guaranteed to get it) which makes life easier. Also need an interernational driver's licence, it's only $26.
Will most likely stay at the Luxor when in Vegas. Have no idea where we'll stay when we're anywhere else but there's still 4 months to go. Kinda want to plan out where we'll be on most days but not so much what we're doing, so there's some element of planned spontenaiety to it

Spontaneity is great, however odd things happen, like pitching up in a town to find every hotel room is booked because a mega-band is in town.Jaekus wrote:

Fuck Israel
Not so spontaneous that I don't book ahead. More spontaneous as when we get there we decide what to do, rather than plan out each day.
Starting to plan the finer details. Our flight is due to arrive in at LAX at 6:25am. What would be a reasonable departure time to book a flight from LA to Vegas on the same day? I have no idea how far the international terminal is from the domestic.
edit: checking times and prices across airlines on Orbitz. Anything wrong with Spirit Airlines? They seem pretty cheap... and what about Delta Airlines?

spirit is a little low cost carrier. delta is the worlds largest airline.Jaekus wrote:

I remember you once said I shouldn't fly with Southwest Airlines. Is this the same for Spirit?
well their aircraft are newer than southwest but the concept is the sameJaekus wrote:

Ok. Well there's a $33 flight (inclusive) with Spirit at 9:55am, which gives us a bit over 3 hours to go through customs and get to the terminal. Then the next one is at 10:30 with Delta, that is $64 pp. What would you choose?
