I was downloading from amazon marketplace on verizon before it was officially opened..
It really annoyed me that ATT was so controlling that they disallowed non-market apps.  I wonder if they plan to fix that for all their Android phones, or just the newer ones.
Wait - does that mean you can't even install 3rd party apps?

Mine has an option that you have to enable if you want to install 3rd party apps. I dont know if every android (or htc) phone has it.

Yes, they most likely do.

That's so you can install .apk's (Android Package) from the SD Card.

Launcher Pro has really been lagging lately. Is there an update?

yep 0.8.4 as of March 28. I'll see if it performs better.

Yeah I had performance issues too, lagging onto the app draw, but I found it fixed itself by setting it to the 3D view.

np, just a note.. I had a problem updating "Package was not signed" .. or some shit like that. just do a manual uninstall and then install the new version. Backup your settings if you please.

Google *Sky Map is pretty cool. I can point my phone down and see the constellations in the southern hemisphere (on my phone).

ATT currently disallows non-market apps.  However, you can sideload apps on some devices.

On another note, apparently I now need to have wifi on for network-location to function on my phone...but only in the city where I live, not where I work.  Lame.
google sky map is the awesome i agreeee! used it last night

Officially, how? It's been running officially on my Nexus S since Xmas time.
once upon a midnight dreary, while i pron surfed, weak and weary, over many a strange and spurious site of ' hot  xxx galore'. While i clicked my fav'rite bookmark, suddenly there came a warning, and my heart was filled with mourning, mourning for my dear amour, " 'Tis not possible!", i muttered, " give me back my free hardcore!"..... quoth the server, 404.

Yes, but it's still been in testing land for all other devices.

Also another phone that is carrier and manufacturer independent - both those devices have no customization of Android whatsoever and receive their updates direct from Google servers. There's no middle man whatsoever.

Not always, but the carrier does play a role.

Issue with my Droid - Text messages will sometimes resend, hours, even days, after I've sent them already which results in people getting about 10-20 texts at a time from me with stuff I've already sent. A friend who has the same phone has the same issue (HTC desire). It's quite annoying and very confusing, too, to the recipients. Good thing I have unlimited texts.

Ideas except for a reformat?

So how do I go about removing the bloatware that came prepackaged on my phone?

Root the phone and use an app like Titanium Backup to uninstall them.
