btw I do like the layout of the new webstore.
https://chrome.google.com/webstore
It browses easily. Whether or not I'll actually use anything in it is still being decided .

The NYT app is neat. It reads like the app does on the iPad. It feels more like a newspaper.

So I've played around with the NYT app.. and whilst it does have a nice "feel" to it, I'm going to have to dump it.
So far for me, nothing has beat the efficiency of Google Reader (or other similar feed aggregates).

Is there a decent ad-blocking solution for chrome?  I'm still missing firefox's one and kind of want to move back now.

Except that's an extension and not one of the actual web apps, so it should work for all versions of Chrome and thus not really relevant this thread.

I use "AdBlock" and it works famously for me. What have you been using in FF that isn't available in Chrome? As I recall all of the top add-ons for FF have already been ported over to Chrome.

It was in the webstore, which opened with chrome 8. So yea, it's relevant. They call it an app, and it is filed under apps.. https://chrome.google.com/webstore/deta … kofpfegoel

This. It's posted right above your post.

Has anyone seen this for chrome?: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefo … 28/?id=128

Was actually looking for something like noscript.  Adblock is nice, but sometimes doesn't cover everything.

If you look in your settings in Chrome at "Under the Hood", there are all kinds of technical settings that you block content and set up exceptions. Really detailed stuff, why not look there and see if that is what you want and then look around for an extension if you need more fine tuning capability.

Awhile ago I had a link that showed you how to use FF extensions with chrome. I can't find it for the life of me now.

as far as ads, I used to just block them with my host file

I've been using this for the past few days in helping the Twimbow CEO and chief designer work out some bugs with the website and it's come in handy. Works perfectly each and every time. Thanks for posting, Kmar.

Very annoying (well it's not that annoying, but you know). Pointless.

I prefer not to have my browser taking up the full screen ... I don't really understand why the tabs move like that when you come out of maximised view.

Any fixes?

I hadnt noticed that because I so rarely maximise my browser window. Now I can never forget. Thanks liq.

what does pinning tabs do actually? Isn't it like bookmarks with the difference that you don't need to open them all the time? Is that it or are there any other benefits?

Reduces space of tabs and keeps them always open. Not really like a bookmark, more like a pinned taskbar application on W7.

I see. More space is always welcome. Do you always have them pinned or do you unpin them when you close the browser?

They stay there automatically when you close/open the browser.

It reloads all the pinned tabs when I restart chrome

so basically like the multiple tabs that can be set to open at startup but in smaller size?
