Check it out, I hope it makes people think. I havnt been riding long and I already see people not notice me like they should. Especially if im going east in the evening and the sun is coming down at my back. I had someone almost pull out infront of me.

Hm that was good. I try to be very observant, especially of motorcyclists and bicyclists. But y'all have to do your part too - remember to always turn on your headlights. Although honestly I've seen way more drivers (often in big honkin' SUVs) who don't turn on their lights than bikers.

Don't count on people on the road driving smart, no matter what your driving.

For a learner, going down isnt a question of if, its a question of when. I almost died when I rode in a thunderstorm for the first time and at night. Since I had a long trip i rode out of the storm and wiped out on a wet road when an S bend caught me off guard. I ended up maintaing enough control to let the bike go where it wanted to instead winding up in oncoming traffic. Luckly i had a helmet on when i got dumped off in wet grass. Helmets are a must because when you get thrown down at 40/45mph there is nothing you can do to hold ur head up.

Riding is only as dangerous as you make it.

Yeah I'm super careful when I ride my bike because the amount of times someone has tried to merge into my lane or cut me off on a corner...

Can't say I've ever crashed on the road. Then again i've been racing motorbikes since I was 4 so I'd like to think I'm an ok rider.

yeah i've spoken to a few people who have bikes, one of them recently told me he had fallen off his bike 10 times, and only one of them was his fault (he said he was a bit too close to the car in front and didn't have time to brake) i know one guy who was driving down the motorway while the cars were stationary in a traffic jam, and someone opened thier door... he went flying about 20 feet.

also my dad lost one of his fingers in a biking accident

i just don't know if it's worth it... but it does look fun, not to mention how much time it saves in rush hour.

my dad and uncle have always had superbikes as toys, kitted out for road-legal requirements... impressive but fucking scary

one of my cousins that lives in south africa had a really bad bike accident and was left braindamaged... jumped off a skyscraper in j'berg

probably going to lay off getting a motorbike

Yeah I find it's best to just ride off road bikes. Because then the only person responsible for you getting hurt is yourself. There aren't thousands of shitty drivers there trying to kill you.

That said I'm planning on buying a Ninja 10R for some fun times

Do they do lane splitting over there in the UK? Ifso is there a limit to how many cars you can go up?

Bikes lane split yeah, I don't think there is a limit to the number of cars though, would be kind of hard to enforce no?

Good point. I wonder if part of the theory for allowing that is to not have the motorcycleist at the end of the traffic jam in harms way of getting rammed by an idiot not paying attention?

Motorcycles seem needlessly dangerous and inconvenient to me. It seems its survived from its 'cool' factor, which usually results in douchebags and bike gangs making up most of their ridership

always always always assume every driver on the road is a complete moron. assume they won't indicate, assume they won't pay full attention at a junction, assume they won't look over their shoulder before they over-take.
for a fatty you're a serious intellectual lightweight.

Not really, it's just you notice douchebags and bike gangs more. The overwhelming majority of bike riders are normal, nice people.

There is nothing wrong with a motorcycle club. Easy now...

inb4 south park

And FFS, horrible bikers have nearly gotten me into wrecks more times than any other vehicle. If I'm hauling a fucking front loader, I'm not going to have time or distance to stop for a two-second yellow light. Nor will I have time to stop for your god damned motorcycle that cuts me off and slows down faster than I can.

hells angels? theres tons of them around here.  ive never heard of a single motorcycle club other than them... motorcycles are highly impractical due to living in canada, so yes, the majority of owners seem to be from the bottom of the gene pool
