FPS Question

Hey, I normally get an average fps of 30 on all maps, is this decent considering my system/settings?

Settings:
Terrain=Low
Geometry=Low
Lighting=Low
Dynamic Lighting=Off
Dynamic Shadows=Off
Effects=Medium
Texture=Medium
Texture Filtering=Medium
AA=X2
View Distance=100%

Res 1280x1024@75Hz

System:
1Gb DDR2 Corsair Ram (512+512)
Pentium 4 (Dual Core 3ghz)
Radeon X700 SE (512mb)

(Some random system specs which I dont know what they do )
Page file:431mb used 2028 Left

Any help? Is my frame rate good? Whats the best settings I should put Bf2 on in regards to map load time and fps?

get an extra gb of ram, that would help a lot, try upgrading ur vid card to sumthing decent like 7600gt

Download Fraps. When you have that open, it shows your FPS in a corner.

inb game just hit the button above tab ` and type renderer.drawfps<insert space here>1 the first number will be fps the second will be timings between them

You have to learn the rules of the game and then you have to play better than anyone else.

Oh, is it that accurate, the ingame bf2 thing shows around 30

I dont have the money to get a new vid card, but I *might* be buying another gig of ram, I gota choose between some stuff though, I can manage fine right now

Just checked prices for the 7600gt, fuck no! I am not spending 400 dollars just for an increase in performance, 1 Gig will boost fine dammit!

Whats wrong about my card, why is the 7600gt so better?

its better
your card will last a bit longer
ive only got a x300se and
512mb ram

i got the 7600gt for £140 that can be that expensive

Personally I'd turn down the effects they really don't do much for you ingame. Even if your frame rates are good as is your better off doing something like increasing your resolution instead of effects.

Perhaps incread your geometery

Looking at those settings, the thing thats going to have a negative effect on FPS' is the AA. Try turning that off.

hey i have a x600 radeon pci(256)....and 1GB ram...and only one processor at 3.6GHz...ad i have most on medium/high and x2 anti-aliasing and no settings off

Upgrade it's worth it's price in performance..

I run everything on HIGH with AA set to x4 and resolution at 1600x1200 75hz. Running Fraps I average 53 FPS on Karkand in a 32 player server with everyone fighting around first flag. If I'm by myself flying or driving a vehicle my FPS are upwards of 75.

Brief specs on my system.

CPU: AMD 64 X2 Dual-Core 4600+ (2.4Ghz)
BOARD: ASUS A8N32 SLI Deluxe
RAM: Corsair 4GB DDR 400 (PC 3200)
GFX: x1 Evga Nvidia 7900GTX Superclocked 512MB
HDD: x2 Seagate Barracuda 80Gb SATA-II 3.0Gb (Raid 0 Config)

2x1GB modules for the win, there. If you can stand to do so, I would just save up for the eventuality of a new computer. While some people might play BF2 forever, that system will be woefully lost come mid-2007.

If you're fine with it, that's good I guess, but IMO, 30 FPS is crap. I strive for no less than 50.

I'd suggest turning off AA btw. With such low settings, it's kinda pointless, not to mention jaggies aren't the end of the world and you'll probably get some major FPS outta turning it off.

Don't download fraps to test frame rate, it'll mess the results up.

You open the console (press the ~ key).

Type: renderer.drawFps 1 This will display the current/average frame rates in the top left corner. To remove just type: renderer.drawFps 0

And yea, you need more memory.

i used to play with on board gfx and used to get 12fps tops and still used to enjoy the game got a 7600gt , now i have all settings on medium and have 85+
