Uh... meaning bf2 is gaming, but not all gaming is bf2...Uzique wrote:

tech geeks forget the difference between 'stats' and 'uses'
580 33W 197W 226W
480 54W 223W 257W
Fan Noise: dbA Idle Load
580 31 41
480 30 50
Peformace:
Across all resolutions the 580 performs 10% better than the 480.
Small advancements I know, not worth upgrading from one to the other but necessary all the same.
I don't get what you want it to do that a 480 can't, play games for you? Not everybody builds their computers with BF2 in mind.
why would anyone pay £500 for a graphics card if they didn't have gaming in mind
and if they did have gaming in mind they'd realise that the bonus fps from these supercards is wholly unnecessary expenditure
As far as unneccessary... 60fps is a good minimum frame rate to shoot for. I personally like to shoot for 100, just so that I dont have to buy a new card the next time I buy a new game.
In alot of newer games even the 580 can't provide 60fps at higher resolutions, like 1920X1200 or 2560X1600, and at 2560X1600 the 480 only performs at 84% of the 580, so yes, a large number of people would find it necessary to have one of these cards or 2 weaker cards to play.
What were the GFX cards companies supposed to do, say "hey the 8800gtx is great, lets not advance gfx technology until this card is pretty much useless."
Also, you are comparing a full system (ipad) to a component in a system, A component only really does one thing, ( in this case perform better, which it does), where as a system does multiple things, (where an Ipad really doesn't do more than a phone except have a larger screen, and in some cases, does less than a smartphone.)
Don't get me wrong, I think tablets have their place, I love the idea of using them as a remote for a smart home, or places of business having them on hand for readers, IE. high end hotels for their guests, or other businesses that have long wait times. But for personal use, there is such a small step between a smartphone and a netbook/laptop, that it really isn't anything more than a novelty.
Edit: Also I get that Apple is a business and will sell what ever people will buy that makes them money, doesn't mean I can't recognize that this is why they are doing it.

That looks so sexy.
The iPad 2 is pretty stout when it comes to performance on a mobile platform at that price point. Certainly it cannot do everything that a laptop can do, but the video editing capabilities are certainly there.Finray wrote:

Sorry, poor choice of words on my point. You have to figure out if there is a need for a product and then create the market. My apologies, bad translation from my marketing (in German) into English.KEN-JENNINGS wrote:
maybe you should move on to an advanced marketing class then.
People/companies create things where there is no market, then they create a market for them. In fact you could make an argument that Apple created the market for small, mobile tablets.
If you build it they will come.
Apple did not create the market for tablets, there was always a market and a need for them. What Apple did was take the tablet mainstream and get it priced accordingly and made more mobile. Tablets always suffered from poor performance/usefulness and good battery life or good performance and bad battery life. The operating systems running on tablets (various Linux distros and Windows XP) always filled a niche but they were never able to appeal to the average consumer. They were often also too expensive. Now that the mobile market has really exploded with the advancement in CPU technology, things are changing very rapidly.
Oh my good god, this is quite a day
I actually did something with my network, and it worked
I'm very much aware that this might be nothing to you guys, but I have an extreme mental block against anything network related. Cannot figure it out most of the time. Go me.

port forwarding?
yup. Laugh it up.

speaking of networks
My new ISP here in Hamburg forces me to use a FritzBox 7570 as my router. It has some custom firmware so it'll connect to their network. They sell you a 100mbit line and force you to use hardware that'll only do 85ish mbit. Gotta see if I can't somehow fool their end into accepting something else. I have a atom board collecting dust that would be perfect

While i clicked my fav'rite bookmark, suddenly there came a warning, and my heart was filled with mourning, mourning for my dear amour, " 'Tis not possible!", i muttered, " give me back my free hardcore!"..... quoth the server, 404.

Yeah I thought my internet was bad with 1.5mbit limit, but 85mbit, that's tough.
how about you donate that 15mbit to me?
Alice by any chance?max wrote:

Then again it's €25 a month and even includes a landline
Chances are they just allow one MAC address to connect. Change that on my atom and I should be good to go. First I have to find the time. Still so much moving related shit to do
