She's Welsh. Which is only half a step up from Scottish.

There's nothing hot about her.

13 years as an Engineer in the Army, 7 years as Lord Mayor of Brisbane, I'll give him a chance.

His rise to power isn't exactly orthodox though

I don't get it.

Labor will get thrashed in NSW and they haven't looked exactly strong in Qld for a while. The Qld Coalition was in a good position to win simply by staying the course and presenting a strong campaign. I'll agree that they didn't exactly have a strong leadership in Langbroek and Springborg but outright replacing them with an outright mess of a leadership seems like side-stepping a pothole only to step off a cliff. Don't get me wrong I think Campbell Newman is a good leader and would make both a good Opposition Leader and good Premier but the party's organisation is in shambles. Jeff Seeney's the leader but he's only warming the seat for Newman who is also leader but not in the house. Newman's career hinges on whether he wins Ashgrove from the fairly popular Qld Minister Kate Jones and if he doesn't win this seat then the Coalition will continue to have a mess of a leadership into the next Government's term.

It's given Qld Labor an awful lot of ammunition - that Newman is 'abandoning' Brisbane when it needs him the most is going to be a popular one. Stay tuned for an early election too. Despite Bligh previously ruling it out she's going to want to make the most of the disarray that the Coalition is in at the moment.

Fucking amateurs.

If only the QLD LNP wasn't so colossally retarded Labor would've been out years ago.

Campbell Newman is exceptionally popular though. You can get away with this shit in state politics.

Yeah but there'll be a good deal of people looking at Newman's gamble on his popularity and wanting to see him fail. Schadenfreude is a powerful beast.

He'll at least get the "I'm a Liberal", "I'm sick of Labor" and "Oh wow it's Campbell Newman" votes.

This would have been true up till about 3 months ago. Anna Bligh has had a large surge in popularity due to her work in the floods. For all the bad things Qld labor has done, Bligh did this very  well. Her approval went up to around 60% on the back of it.

The only other person to perform in the floods was Cambpell Newman. To his credit he performed quite well. TBH he is the only hope the LNP has, no one else could have taken on Bligh at the moment. Its just such a strange way of going about it. At the moment he is leader of the party, however he needs a visitors pass to enter the state parliament. The current opposition leader sits there saying " Campbells coming" all the time, and collects $60000 more per year, then quickly resigns and passes the reigns to Campbell if he gets elected.

If Campbell doesnt get in, but the LNP does, who knows what happens then.

Apart from this,I think he is a pretty decent guy. if he was premier of QLD I wouldnt feel too pissed off. He is commited to doing something about climate change, and he actually tried to make a NBN style broadband for Brisbane. It failed but at least he values fast broadband. It will be interesting to see how he deals with the National party cave men in the LNP.

Pretty shameful stuff. Bob Brown felt so bad about all the shitty slogans that he even said sorry to the PM. Of course he had nothing to do with it.

I know that you have broad shoulders. However, from my own experience, I also know that such calumny, apparently endorsed by hundreds of other people present, can be deeply hurtful.
I hope Mr Abbott apologises. However, if not, I extend to you a heartfelt apology on behalf of the many people in Australia who think differently
Do you think Abbott will apologise?? He specialises in scare campaigns and right wing bullshit, so I wont hold my breathe.

Christ, thats about the dumbest thing I've seen.

I went to a talk by a Siemens energy expert, he too thought the quality of our politicians was a joke.

Glad you're still around mate.

I heard from someone who actually went to that rally in Canberra, and the reason a lot were there was because there was a rumour that Pauline Hanson would make an appearance. And that brought out the whack jobs who still worship her.

It's hard to believe Abbott would want to move the Libs even further to the right. It makes zero sense politically imo.

Enough with the circle jerk.

A Centrebet spokesman said tonight that a client has bet $30,000 on the NSW Coalition... the bet would gain only $450 if the coalition wins

lol.

IIRC, They've named him as their leader, but he can't actually lead in the house yet because he's not a MP.

He is who will be running for Premier in the election.

I understand that professional betting it risking large amounts on sure things but I still find it surprising that a person would risk 30 grand just for the chance of getting $450. At the minimum Australian wage how much work is that worth? Not even a week.
