I would definately nominate Stadium Arcadium by RHCP.

Dani California being the first of long range of hits coming from that album, bought the collectors edition yesterday and been playing it all day long - its sweet :-)

Others ?

I try to stay about 10 years behind on the music scene as to not make a fool out of myself.  Besides music was better back then.  Can't you see all the people who were really in too Vanilla Ice and thought he was all cool and shit and then 10 years later they think back and are ashamed?  LOL!  I gotta feeling with all these Emo-Punk-Crybaby "rockers" thier fans are going to feel the same way in ten years.

As for the best album of 2006, I don't think it has come out yet.  Tool's 10,000 days sounded just like all the other Tool albums, Seether hasn't came out with anything yet, Blue Oktober...........ahahahahah NO.

Hehe, think thats common for the people that only buy singles from whats top20 right now, they will prolly be ashamed later on, but hardcore fans of a particular group or style and have been digging that group for 10 years will not be.

This year THA, that one's an oldie.

Cougar, Vanilla Ice had the most awesome hair! He looked like a door stop! Give the man some credit!

Uber73, I think Wolfmother are good, but this whole "Lets re-inact the 70s" thing is getting stupid.

For me I havn't really found a CD that I really want to buy, except from maybe the special edition of Shihad's "Love is the new Hate." It's the same CD it just includes a DVD of the Aotea Square free show last NZ Music Month. That was legendary.
Little point though, I mean, I got LITNH as soon as it came out and I don't have a DVD player, (or a video player for that matter.)

Tool's CD sounds good, I don't have a Tool CD yet so I can't say like Cougar that it sounds like all the other ones. Still, that pretty much means I may as well opt for one of the older albums.

I keep on hearing about Dream Theater. Must listen out for them. They havn't got as far as New Zealand yet.

Tyferra, each to his/her own... re enacting the 70s aint really about what wolfmother are about.. Metal/Rock is the most timeless of music classes.  Riffs are riffs.. there is little difference in these over time.  Good rock is timeless... for example, the first 2 Iron Maiden albums are my favs, (pre bruce dickenson) and i think they would still sell if released today.  When maiden went all keyboards in the 80s, they were screwed because they changed the format of the metal they were making.. they "timed" it, by using synths, thereby planting their sound firmly in that most awful of decades...  Proper Rock/Metal doesnt fall prey to this as all a rock band needs is distorded guitars etc..

Wolfmother have a retro sound, but i think thats more to do with their singer rather than the music itself.

i challenge ANYONE to listen to current single "dimension", or my album fav "minds eye", and not be impressed.

but if it dont float yer boat mate.. thats cool too.

reenacting the 70's... god, imagine if abba or the beegees started churning out more of that guff!
