The most socialist states of all are up north on the continent and they're doing great. That Greece doesn't know how to run an economy does not mean socialism fails.lowing wrote:

Immigration is hardly as much of a problem as you make it out to be, these boats full of africans have been coming here since the 1960s. Most of the time they're stopped, and the influx of immigrants they carry with them is hardly noticeable.

well, funny you should say that since while googling European immigration there are no shortages of articles pointing to the ever increasing problems with immigration coupled with the ever increasing bitching about it by Europeans.Shocking wrote:

Same goes for the demise of socialism in Europe, but since I do not live there, I will just have to take your word for it, that the journalists, politicians, economists etc. covering the story are wrong and you are right.
Greece is different. Greece has this, from an external POV, hilariously bad debt culture. They simply do not understand the concept, it seems, of returning borrowed money.lowing wrote:

“They cannot be allowed on the shore,” Marine Le Pen, the 42-year-old leader of France’s anti-immigration National Front, said in a March 15 interview in Rome after a three-hour visit the previous day to Lampedusa. “Send boats out to feed them. But they must not set foot on land"
Oh well, so much for the Kumbaya bullshit, helping your fellow man and socialist sharing, human rights bullshit. Feed them but let them rot in the middle of the ocean. Perhaps Europe is worried about losing its identity after all?

Bitching, yes, but the actual issues with it aren't as bad as you would think - most of them, imo, are of our own doing by allowing immigrants to isolate themselves from the dominant culture.lowing wrote:

We have never 'praised liberal immigration policies' though. Getting into Europe legally is much harder than anywhere else, we don't have liberal immigration policies.
Just take a look at Denmark, probably the most socialist state in all of Europe and it's doing fine. Yes, there are issues with the current implementation of socialism but the concept itself is NOT failing, just that there are problems within the system that need to be resolved. I don't know who the journalists, politicians and economists you listen to are but if they tout that socialism is failing in Europe, safe to say they don't know much about the European states and their differences in socialist policies, or socialism itself for that matter.lowing wrote:

liberal immigration polices was the wrong choice of words. Perhaps, openly accepting and tolerating outside cultures would be more appropriate?Shocking wrote:

As far as I know there used to be patrol boats around spain and italy picking off people who were trying to get ashore, I'd suppose they're stil around. Once this issue really gets noticeable and picked up in the media I'm sure there will be more effort put in trying to stop this form illegal immigration.lowing wrote:

Well it sounds.... strange because 'socialism' is an incredibly broad term. Every single European state has implementations of socialist policies, some more than others. So when they're saying 'socialism is failing' it doesn't really help me to understand what they actually mean. Socialized healthcare entirely? The dole? Retirement policies? Education funding?...lowing wrote:

Sure, I'll agree that there are going to be changes in the system but to declare that 'socialism is failing' is pretty ridiculous at this moment in time.

I've been reading up on the steady flow of immigrants into Europe. Especially those coming from Africa.
Take a look at this:
Homo erectus first migrated out of Africa over the Levantine corridor and Horn of Africa to Eurasia about 1.8 million years ago, a migration probably sparked by the development of language. The expansion of H. erectus out of Africa was followed by that of Homo antecessor into Europe around 800,000 years ago, followed by Homo heidelbergensis around 600,000 years ago, where they probably evolved to become the Neanderthals.
H. sapiens reached Europe around 40,000 years ago, eventually replacing the Neanderthal population. East Asia was reached by 30,000 years ago.
The date of migration to North America is disputed; it may have taken place around 30 millennia ago, or considerably later, around 14 millennia ago.
Can you believe the outrage? First Europeans have to deal with Homo erectus, a million years later the Homo antecessor! And, bloody Homo heidelbergensis 200,000 years after decided to swarm into Europe!
Then we come to the real bastards, Homo sapiens! We're still dealing with those homo's since they kicked out the Neanderthals. Bloody racists!
Here it is illustrated:
1. Homo sapiens
2. Neanderthals
3. Early Hominids
For tens of thousands of years the steady flow of Homo sapiens has plagued Europe. Never content with what they had.
Here is a poor Homo Erectus
Not much chance of staying in Europe after those other homos moved in. But Europe just seems to keep having to deal with these invaders time and time again!
I thought we were safe after Homo sapiens moved into the Middle East (where they belong!) about 70 millennia ago.
But no, then this happened. Civilization!
This is when our other invader was finally seen off, the Neanderthals. But at what cost? Homo sapiens to replace them? I don't think so. All of Europe is in a terrible state of affairs, and his been for decades. Possibly longer.
Is there anything we can do to stop the tide? Before long, Europe will be doom to be swamped with Homo Sapiens forever!
What do you suggest lowing? Can we build some kind of wall to keep out the Homo sapiens?
