Lunar perigee, which is only about two percent closer. Sounds like hype to me.

So my cousin is saying that in the next 8 days the moon will be closest to the earth than it's ever been in 18 years, it'll be a full moon. He says that scientists are predicting that it's might cause more earthquakes and volcanic activity, can anyone confirm/deny?
http://www.space.com/11084-supermoon-ea … sters.htmlVidale concurred. "Practically speaking, you'll never see any effect of lunar perigee," he said. "It's somewhere between 'It has no effect' and 'It's so small you don't see any effect.'"
The bottom line is, the upcoming supermoon won't cause a preponderance of earthquakes, although the idea isn't a crazy one.
"Earthquakes don't respond as much to the tides as you'd think they would. There should actually be more of an effect," said Vidale.
Most natural disasters have nothing to do with the moon at all. The Earth has a lot of pent up energy, and it releases it anytime the buildup gets too great. The supermoon probably won't push it past the tipping point, but we'll know for sure, one way or the other, by March 20.
No wonder the video was cut before it got to the roadKmar wrote:

Gonna have to pay attention to this one. My place is just up the Howe sound from there and only a little above sea level.ebug9 wrote:

I watched this with bated breath earlier expecting it to rip through the farm land like the earlier wave. It just seemed to stop at the shore line, I was watching it live about 4 hours ago now. I know what Ive just said sounds crazy, but it just seemed to act like a normal wave at the beach. It also showed about 4 more of these behind this wave shown
seems focused on libya the few times I've checked that link.1927 wrote:
