I was reading another thread about what is the oldest computer game you still play, and it lead me back to my childhood when my family got our first computer.

I remember at the time being fascinated by the games my dad played...on the old Green and Black CRT monitor...it was probably 9", but boy was that thing awesome.

Feel free to remind me of other super old games for the PC!

I remember the original castle wolfenstien, on I think Apple.

It was two colors, overhead view. I swear that it said "commrade" when you pointed your gun at the enemy.

I think that was 1984.

F-15 Strike Eagle in '84. Green and white an black. That's it. Targets were triangles on the ground and triangles in the air.

How bout Jupiter Lander?  Oh and what was the Olympic One, Track and Field?  You had to bash the Joystick back and forth wicked fast like you ewere having a seisure or something.  Back in the days of one button joysticks and 5 1/4 floppy's that were actually floppy.  I think Jupiter lander was actually on cassette.  I remember getting magazines with pages and pages of code we had to enter ourselves, and woe to you if you missed a comma!!!

used to scream ACHTUNG!!!! as well when an enemy spotted you, used to almost make me wet myself every time.

Remember Wolfenstein 3d?  A guy I knew modded it so that the guards lokked like lawnmowers, then modded their sound to be a clip from a phil collins song, so they would say "i'm just a lawnmower" over and over again.

Hard hat mac....

With those hot rivets that killed me as they bounced by?  I remember...

Was it Jump Joe?  I remember Johnny Lightfoot.  Acrobat guy?  Oh yeah.

You are standing on a path near a house.  There is a mailbox here.

Prompt:  C4 the mailbox <enter>

You place C4 on the mailbox.

Prompt: Hide behind house <enter>

You hide behind the house.

Prompt: wait <enter>

Time Passes....

Along comes a shady looking character.  He pauses at the mailbox, then begins to peek inside.

Prompt: activate detonator <enter>

Click.  BOOOOM  The mailbox explodes and obliterates all traces of the thief who dies with an obscure "what happened" look.

There is an unlocked egg on the ground here next to a smoldering hole.

Original version of Sid Meier's Pirates - had it on both the Amiga and PC - still play the original every now and again.

Oh and Chuck Yeager's Air Combat, that game was awesome

Oh...My...God... I feel so old....   I was gonna post my recollection of Hack, the old ASCII based Unix game - but now I have nothing but images of Star Trek on the old TRS-80's flashing through my head...

And heres one for a flashback (Requires Java).  Remember when this was a $.50 game?

Anyone played Paganitzu? That was awesome but they made the last level actually impossible so you couldn't finish it.
I also played Sid Meir's 'Colonisation' which was the predecessor to civilisation.
Anyone played "Alleycats"? That was an awesome game too, aside from the fact that there was no point whatsoever to the game.

Speaking of old Trash-80's, I used my CoCo64 to play one of the first MMOG's on Compuserve....Megawars I and Megawars III. $6.00 an hour it was to play at 300 baud. That burnt some cash!
