Not quite, it depends on the plan you have. Most carriers have unlimited plans so it's no real problem at all.

Wow conspiracy, I'm also taking a communication course this semester. Shit sucks.

@Zeek you'd be surprised. There are a lot of students in the US who have pretty shitty high school educations and so universities have to play catch-up with them. Meanwhile, us smarter students place out of things like English 101 based on SAT scores or AP scores. But some courses, like communication, have no AP or SAT equivalent so everyone has to take them. It's kinda useful I guess, but I hate public speaking.

Sounds like the retarded English/Communication classes I have to take. I thought my 400 level Business Writing course would be something that would be hard but our first project was to write a resume for God's sake. It gets better, as our second is to write a memo Waste of my time when I could be working towards my minor or hitting myself in the head with a blunt object.

why is the onus on the college system to waste its time, effort and resources bringing freshmen up to scratch? shouldn't the ailing high-school system get some sort of serious work and reform done to it if people are applying for college lacking such BASIC skills? the exercises you're having to do sounds like serious bullshit. you pay for college? jesus christ i hope those lessons are bonus and not on the bill.

I had to read Shakespeare, Bronte, Austen, Vonnegut, Camus, Sartre, Hesse, a bunch of other stuff I can't remember off the top of my head. Some were better than others.
