Just bought BF2: Complete collection.

Having trouble installing anything really.

It's attempting to self patch itself to 1.1 before it installs SF but comes up 'patch fails'. I download BF2 1.41, ran it and also got 'patch failed'.

When I try to run BF2 as it is now it doesn't run (black screen -> "Cannot find ...")

Anything?

Are you running the installer with administrator privileges?

Also, one post would have sufficed ... use the edit button.

Theres only 1 user account and I'm that user, & admin. So I'm assuming I am.

Also:

When trying to run it without any patches:

Interesting...
I uninstalled, then installed and restarted. Tried to play the game v1.0 and worked perfectly. Then went back into set up to add the other shit and it said patch failed. Then when I try and run the game I get the same shit.

Gonna reinstall then just apply the patches myself without this poxy COMPLETE COLLECTION shit.

Thanks liq

x64 is frustrating for games or so I hear. Any specific reason you went with x64?

ccleaner used to fix this for me on Win XP 64. It was the temp files of patches that buggered each other up.

Uninstall BF2
Remove bf2 registry (CCleaner)
Reboot in Safe-Mode
Install BF2
Restart after install (into safe mode again)
Install 1.41
Install 1.5

This worked 100% but I cant install SF. The SF install folder contains patch 1.2 and apparently SF won't install without 1.2, which is bullshit.

I reckon if I manually downloaded 1.2, installed bf2 in safe mode, then installed the 1.2 patch I downloaded and then installed SF it wouldnt give me the error as it *might recognize that I already have it and just install the game. From there I could install 1.4 and then AF and EU, then 1.5.

That's what I could of done and it would of probably worked. A lot of hassle for this old game.

You only need to install 1.5

It wouldn't let me install 1.5 directly. Don't know why. W764

It wont let you install SF even after you've done the above in safe mode?

Nope. It starts, then pulls out patch 1.2 from fucking????? and up comes 'Patching Failed'. Then everything is fucked and I gotta start from scratch again.

As you say yourself best option would be install BF2>patch 1.2>SF>patch 1.5

Yeah. You see the patch 1.2 that is part of the SF installation won't install, regardless of PC settings. So perhaps if I downloaded the patch independently of installation files and installed the patch myself perhaps the SF install won't prompt me to install 1.2, and fail. There are no options to install/leave out patches in the custom install, just the games (BF2, SF, AF, EU).

You could always try a iso of SF, and you don't need to install AF and EF as they are part of the 1.5 patch.

Not really that arsed. I cant imagine a lot of servers are running SF and as you said I have AF and EF from 1.5.

So, all is good, thanks for the help.

That's because 1.5 is an incremental patch, despite what EA says.
