How can you even smoke in Australia, it's fucking 16 dollars a pack. That's like 80 cents a cigarette.Adams_BJ wrote:

If im out with my mates, and a lot of them smoke, and they decide to go out and have a smoke, ill go out with them and just chat. I don't feel out of place being in the smokers area and not having a fag.
I used to stay inside when everyone went out for a fag when i was cutting down, would always result in my being exponentially more wankered by the end of the night.Adams_BJ wrote:

I quit once before.... the first 3 days are the hardest. That lasted about a month.
I'm 20 and have been smoking for 5 years now. A quarter of my life. I'm fucking sick of this shit. It used to be only occasionally, like two a day, but lately its been getting worse and worse. Sometimes I will chain smoke 3 in a row, if I haven't had any for a while, like after class or something.
To those of you who have managed to quit -- you are an inspiration. Corny, but I mean it.

Get the nicotine patches. It made me forget I wanted a smoke or dip. I started dipping when I was 15, then hardcore smoking at 17 through my mid/late twenties (newport lights then to kools to camel lights). When I wasn't smoking I had a dip in. If I couldn't go smoke and the dip had lost its punch, I'd put another one in. Nasty habit in retrospect. I quit via patches. But I started dipping last year again out of sheer boredom and quit again after a few months. Patches were the key. I also made myself get drunk while wearing them as smoking and drinking go together well.Spearhead wrote:

I still smoke pipes from time to time and will enjoy the occasional cigar when fishing or hunting, but by in large I'm tobacco free. Don't miss it, don't care. It can be done.
Plus the patches give you ultra vivid dreams... This is good and bad.

^You wont be able to quit unless you do it for yourself. It took me 6 years to understand that(when I was going through almost 2 packs/day). I was sick all the time, I couldn't laugh or speak a bit louder than normal because I'd just start coughing etc. That's when I realized if I don't quit soon, there will be serious consequences. I quit more than 2 years ago, cold turkey style. One morning I just did not light my routine first cig and and that was that. No patches, no dip, no cigar no nothing.
Once you understand this, you will come off it pretty easy. Oh and the withdrawal is not that bad, for me it was worse not to light one in certain situations when I usually had done(having a beer, waiting for a train, after dinner, during morning coffee and so on).
Edit: Did anyone who quit had dreams in which they smoked and woke up thinking "Damn I shouldn't have done that." ?

No... but about 2 weeks ago I had a nightmare where I was smoking so much my jaw started rotting off.... lol
It's a bitch. I tried quitting for new year's but it failed after a week or so. I had some cigs lying around and i was stressed, and went for one. Ive tried throwing out a pack and lighter but eventually I either end up buying some or having some with a friend and it starts again. I think I'm gonna try again soon.
I never imagined it'd be this hard. I'm not even a heavy smoker.

^^ ya throwing them away definitely does not work. You just end up wasting money
I just chain smoked the rest of my kools... probably 5 or 6. Almost threw up. Going to the store to get some patches later.

Good for you.
They itch when you put em on a tad, but it goes away. I'm serious about the dreams though...
*edit:
Good Luck man... Do it for yourself.

Had a nightmare where my teeth started falling out. Felt it and everything. I even tasted blood!
Then I woke up and had to feel my mouth before I figured out wtf was going on. pretty freaky.
That sounds horrible. Surely there's a better way to quit?
