will revolve around five key concepts: Revolutionary User Interface, Social Connectivity, Location-based Entertainment, Converging Real and Virtual (augmented) Reality. It will be compatible with the PlayStation Suite and is backwards-compatible with downloadable PSP games and content from Sony's PlayStation Store.

Specs include a quad-core ARM Cortex-A9 processor, 5-inch touchscreen OLED display with 960 x 544 resolution, dual analog sticks (not nubs as on the current generation), 3G, WiFi, GPS, a rear-mounted touchpad, the same accelerometer / gyroscope motion sensing as in the PlayStation Move, an electronic compass, and cameras on both the front and back. Available this holiday season. Wait... what?!

looks awesome, but save for the MGS series, sony exclusive games will never impress me

I've gotten way more gaming out of my DS Lite. I doubt I'll be upgrading to the PSP2 anytime soon.

They're claiming it'll have "PS3 quality graphics".

If they can pull that off, that's pretty impressive considering the iPad has graphics equivalent to the PS2 - which is impressive as well, don't get me wrong.

^this.
If anything i'll get a 3ds, handhelds are for fun little games when i'm out. I don't care about graphics particularly, it's more about novelty, which the 3ds has.
I'd type my pc specs out all fancy again but teh mods would remove it. Again.

loved the psp when it was still new, but it's far too bulky thesedays

the NGP doesn't look any smaller either

Don't know why Sony even bother with handhelds anymore. When it comes to portable gaming the DS is the alpha and omega.

Some PSP games aren't going to work on a DS though. Silent Hill for instance

Never understood gaming handhelds (Post-gameboys)... they are too big to fit in a pocket now adays... they cost more than a full console... games are restricted and features are low...

That's why I'm more interested in the Xperia Play.. A handheld console that fits in your pocket and is full-android phone...

But it's probably gonna cost more than two full-consoles.. so meh...

That's true but I most of the games I'd want to play on a PSP are much better done on a home console. The DS was just better suited to giving a good portable experience. Games were less graphically intensive and therefore more gameplay driven, and multiplayer was excellent. As a kid going on a 3 day trip to visit grandma I knew I wanted games like pokemon and advance wars in my bag rather than games like final fantasy.

DS is shite, iPhone isn't considered anything like the DS/PSP for anyone who's not a complete retard, nobody'll buy the older PSPs, cause, well, they're older.

Could work.

because the external and internal design originates from the Xperia series.
