Tie about three feet of string through a small plate ..and  tie the other end to a stick. Let the weight hang and then roll it up and down. Burns like hell.

I also use SEREMAKER's method.

how do I go about doing that
kneel down in front of bench and rest your forearms across the bench - using curl bar - sets of curl with only your wrist -
You can also use dumbells and do each wrist individually.  I've also seen people do it with a standard bench bar, though I don't care for that method.

Good god!  Due to my traveling circumstances, I need to carry two gym memberships...and it's still only a combined total of $33/month.

What could they possibly offer you that justifies a $79/month cost?  oy!  Seriously though, what 'amenities' does that provide?
it's a "passport" membership... which means I can use both the NYC locations (I use the Wall Street location which is packed with guys in suits coming in all the time lol) and my Long Island location. I'm cancelling it after the summer to sign up with somewhere that's both on Long Island and where ever I transfer to.

they have a steam room, a pool at a lot of locations, pretty much every free weight and machine you can think of, a huge variety of cardio machines... and towel service.

but as I said, it's suspended.. the costs became too much
lifetime fitness center has all of those and the family pass we have to pay for 4 people is still only $160 per month

When I'm working out my arms, my weak points are always my wrists/forearms. When I'm doing db curls for example, everything is ok in the bicep/upper arm region. Nothing abnormal.

When I put the weights down, I get a short, sharp pain in the wrist/forearm area. Does anyone else get that. As soon as you put the weights down. Is there something wrong with my technique/the way I'm putting the weights down, or do I just have weak as shit wrists/forearms. I even use that powerball thing!
Try these:

Also, replace your standard DB curls with Zottman curls, for a bit of extra forearm work.

11b, I don't know if you've gone to PF yet, but is it true that they have a lunk alarm there that goes off when someone is displaying 'musclehead' behaviour?

Went to my new gym today. Pretty small, but the equipment's a little bit newer.

Will be packed at peak hours though, and there isn't really that much place for deadlifting at all. Will have to do in the power rack with some plates to stop me from wrecking the floor

all you need is a bar and small empty space on the floor big enough for the bar. But still, that sucks bro. They packed the gym i go to with new machines on christmas and now there's theres just a few spots where i can deadlift. But the worst is, there isnt a squat rack. Most people squat in the smiths rack, but that shits is just stupid, so now im forced to squat on the chair where you do OHP.

That's even worse. My old gym used to have a large upper floor (twice the size of this gym) only for powerlifting. There were all kinds of bumper pads on the floor and loads of space to lift. Now they've moved most of the machines of the old gym into the new gym, so it's really cramped. I'll manage though

Trying to eat 200g of peanuts a day but can't find any unsalted ones in any supermarkets. Stuck with monkey nuts at the moment, its a bitch to shell loads.
Going to check some health food shops on Monday, see if they've got any.
I'd type my pc specs out all fancy again but teh mods would remove it. Again.

There isn't that much salt in the Sainsburys brand, 1.5g per 200g

What about the health food section? Supermarkets here all have them, and there's plenty of unsalted nuts to choose.

That or the health food shop like you mentioned should definitely have them.

Jebus, are you able to bring rubber tiles to the gym? Pretty awkward though, but just a thought.

Maybe the gym might provide a couple rubber tiles to put down for deadlifting? They don't cost much do they?

i was wondering where the fuck this thread went

Guys, what's a good workout program for beginners like me? My goals are to lose fat, build strength and gain size. I'd rather be very strong and look average muscular than have ripped mirror muscles but not have good strength throughout, y'know?

Like I've been saying the past few days, I've been using the elliptical trainer and while that'll help me burn fat, it won't do a ton for me in the muscle department.

Generally speaking lower reps, lower sets. Separate the days of cardio and strength training. That way you can focus your energy on the weights on each specified day. Personally, I don't like machines for building muscle size and strength.

I agree with Kmar there. You're best off doing a full body workout 3x a week to start, with cardio on your off days and AT LEAST one full day's rest - no exercise, period, to allow your body to recover for next time.

Free weights are always better than machines. This is because you adopt a natural form and movement that suits your body, rather than having your body adapt to a fixed machine. Your body also uses stabiliser muscles, giving you a better workout. With machines they do the stabilising, so your workout isn't as effective..

You also need to look at your diet. What is a typical day's food intake for you? (ie. types of foods, size of meals, how often you eat)

Try the Stronglifts 5x5 workout, it's primarily a strength training program. This is it in a nutshell:

Workout A
Squat
Bench Press
Barbell Rows

Workout B
Squat
Overhead Press
Deadlift

There's a lot more to read about it though before you start, far more than I care to post here. If you PM me an email address I can send you the pdf, as the download link no longer works.

I eat about 100g a day with shell. It gives me something to do while watching a movie. crack shell, eat peanuts, repeat.

My gym doesn't have rubber tiles, but they have plates with a rubber layer over them, although i wouldn't recommend slamming them on the floor, you can still drop em from a feet high or so

And I fart as much if not even less than before.
Ironically after posting this I pretty much have been farting like it's going out of fashion. Guess that extra protein shake each day has tipped me over the edge.
