more horizon this week was basically scientists going 'wtf' at the recent climate-gate stuffs. worth a watch. it's done entirely apolitic (i really hope that's a word) - as science should be done so if anyone with opinions on climate-change is interested in what actual scientists have to say, and not the media go watch it.

for non-UK'ers you're looking for Horizon series 2010-2011 episode '10. Science under Attack. probably floating on the intertubes somewhere, if not try and get into iplayer via proxy.

I run Firefox too, but its a 64bit version on enterprise Linux. It lags something fierce after a while, and no one can seem to fix it.

As for science

Anyone recommend any good physics books? After something similar to Feynman's books to read for fun rather than academic-y stuff.

hahaha, uhhh

Define 'fun'? Anything with a lot of substance to it will probably fall under the academic category. Unless you want stuff like The Elegant Universe (Greene), Understanding Physics (Asimov), or any of Hawkings's books?

I'm actually working my way through Jackson's Mathematics for Quantum Mechanics. It's been a long time since I've gone through that material in detail and it's a good challenge to sharpen my skills. Probably not what you're looking for though...? What's your education level?

String theory doesn't lend itself to easy explanation to anyone, even if you include the necessary math! For Greene to have done as good of a job as he did is quite a feat, lol. Regardless, I agree with you.
