Because those channels don't have adverts (commercials). It is a small fee and we don't have to sit through 20 minutes of bullshit adverts every hour when watching a program.Trotskygrad wrote:

because our region doesn't regularly get hit with snow storms that drop more than, say, 4 inches of snow. We don't have the equipment or 'snow culture' to handle it. And there's not much point in buying that equipment since it doesn't happen often, and it doesn't really hurt us having a snow day.Kampframmer wrote:

Here (Netherlands) we're not equipped for snow either, but we'll never get a day off because of it. Each year the government claims how they are prepared for everything and that no snowstorm is big enough to close up our freeways and public transport. And every time it snows just 1 inch the freeways are clogged and the trains stop driving because of icing on the tracks. One big failing system when it comes to snowHurricane2k9 wrote:

Then again, our public transport fails in every type of weather. In the fall theyre always slowed down because of fucking leaves on the track.
Wouldn't surprise me if one day they they would stop during a heat wave in the summer because the tracks are too hot
