And I double agree about that. I did play with whomever he/she is and he/she is nice enough in game. Either way its not important whether he/she is who he/she says they are.
I have to disagree because I am a naieve older fuffy-duddy. This is a matter of trust. The thread is "what do you look like?" and was started with the best intentions. There are other folders with the same thread. If you do not want other folks to know what you look like - that's cool - don't post. But please, don't tell me you look like Zippy The Pin Head if you don't! I don't care what you look like - post you, but don't lie!
Forums allow folks to "Wear their heart on their sleeve" and get support, or flamed, or fragged. Just don't lie.
Yes, I'll play & post a pic or two here shortly.
And now back to your regularly scheduled faffery....
Fully agreed. posting a fake pic with the caption 'LAWL LOOKIT ME IM HAWT' is one thing, but actually bothering to create that false facade just totally destroys any amount of credibility you have. Sure, its the internet, nameless, faceless, anonymous. But as we draw together as a community threads like these are started up to put a name and face to the nickname.
Laughing at Trigger is so much more fun when I know how he looks like etc, but I digress.
To draw closer as a community some sort of trust and rapport has to be established, and like with any community, fraud and lies are looked down upon.
Sure, he/she may have been wonderfully nice ingame, but the fact that he/she lied about his/her true identity takes a LOT of lustre of the shine.
If you considered the person as another gamer, fine. But I take everyone from the community as an individual to get to know better, to rile up etc etc, and thats 80% of the fun of being in a gaming community.
