I've used Chrome since it was first released. Had a few bugs and crashes for a while there, but in the past 12 months it's been near flawless. Very quick too.

Get something small like an X25-V. I have one in my machine, and I can't think of any other component I've ever bought that had anywhere near the impact on my system that the SSD did. It was very $120 well-spent, and it runs about $90 these days.

I only need 1TB, Raid1 = Mirror to keep an up-to-date backup...

And the 1TB drive is faster than the 500MB one... and only a wee bit more expensive...

Then you're less than clever. You are aware of what the 'R' stands for, right? It doesn't stand for "backup," because RAID isn't backup.
