Source - RedditIt's built in XNA, which means it's Windows-only, so immediate apologies to all Mac/Linux users. (EDIT: see below)
/r/gaming was a huge encouragement for me when I posted my very-amateur games in the past (1, 2). Plus, I've procrastinated so much here that I feel like I owe you something. So I figured that now that I've actually made a higher-quality game for which I plan on charging real money, first I ought to let reddit have it for free. I didn't know an elegant way of doing that, so I'm just going to put it online for free, post this, and start charging for it tomorrow.
Get the game here.
The game is an ambient RTS that tries to distill the real-time strategy genre to its essential elements. I wanted to make a slow, relaxed game. The gameplay is in the same vein as Galcon or (especially) Eufloria, if you know those.
As before, I'd love to hear your thoughts on the game, both positive and negative. If you hate the game, please tell me. If you love it, please tell everyone else!
EDIT: I built a WINE-compatible version that works on my friend's MacBook, for those who want to try. Download it here (just the game, no installer). You'll need .NET 2.0 and the XNA 3.0 Redistributable, too. Unfortunately, it won't have music, since XNA uses wmplayer.exe for that, so you should put your own 120bpm music on in the background. Or just play the game's album on loop.
EDIT 2: If you're getting a SongPlaybackFailed error, it looks like that's because XNA uses Windows Media Player for music. You'll have to reinstall WMP, or else you can use the WINE-compatible version above (with the 3.0 framework).
Looks cool and I like Eufloria. Get it while it's free! Or wait for another 20 hours and pay the guy. Slaves gotta eat!
